Changes at North American

Anyone think NABCO might sell at some point (once anyone starts buying)...whether expansion of a local cluster or entry by an outsider?

Yeah, they have also went ahead and went deeper then playing music from the '80s. You can hear some rock music from the '60s and '70s on there now. I think the change might be a sign that The Rock is slowly failing. I wonder how much longer the station has left?

Yeah, there are a few surprises but 90% of the music seems unchanged. A tweak or an evolution? I'd guess the former. Unless maybe they're planning to fill the local hole for country...

I'm old enough to remember "way back when."  I have a distinct childhood memory of being in the car with my Dad, who used to really like the beautiful music on 920, when an announcement came on:  "Coming soon, 920 WMNI will be playing everybody's favorite music -- Country 'n Western!"  Dad growled at the radio.

I think that 99.7 The Rock should be moved to 103.9 (since it would get better ratings then whats on there now.) and put something BIG on 99.7. A format that Columbus is missing, a format that doesn't suck! The person programming the stations up there should or thought of this a long time ago.

How do you know what ratings 103.9 is getting now?  None have even been made public yet.  And relative to signal strength, TED-FM was probably doing as well, if not not better, than what 99.7 did in the most recent quraterly.  Of course, their in-demo performance may not be as bad as their 12+, but neither can it be too good...

I don't, I just looked at WTDA's last released ratings. I guess that really isn't fair since they changed formats and all. I just got it in my head that the new format isn't doing much better, better then Talk-FM though. But, I'll be shocked if it gets close to a 2.0.

I've noticed an increase in the Classic rock they play. Maybe they are thinking about switching to classic rock to compete with Q-FM 96. They got a strong enough signal to be a good competiter, but I don't think they could beat Q-FM in ratings. Knock out 105.7, sure, but probably not 96.3.

Way back in the a day when they were Magic 99 they did take on the "Q" pretty head on. As I remember, they did well out of the gate but gradually and continually lost ground. With Q-FM's history, I think it would be very hard to for anyone to pry them out of their position as the Classic Rock leader
