Wow. I worked with Suz for four years and, although we had our moments where we'd sound like "husband and wife" with differing opinions at WPXC, I thoroughly respected her passion for the biz. We still talk from time to time and I consider her as a trusted friend. I truly hope that, if she wants to stay in the biz, she gets another gig soon.
Sorry to hear about this. Of course, with many tenured jocks getting their pink slips these days, I guess I shouldn't be shocked - especially if they plan to replace her with a voicetracked jock. I guess after overnight and evening disc jockey, the midday jock is following their lead in radio extinction. And we have Seacrest, Bush and Osmond to thank for that.
I worked for pixy 103 for 3 weeks...Suz and I never met eye to eye so I left....I hate seeing anyone lose their job, despite being a giant pain in the ass, she really did care about the sound of the station. Maybe I'll reapply though
Word is Nassau cleaned house with PD's in other markets the same week she got cut loose. Radio is dying (or already dead and just won't admit it) unless your talk radio. Furthermore, corporate radio is killing radio. Automation is taking over. Gone are the days of radio personalities and creative formatting. Everything is becoming cookie cutter. It's sad.
The Cape Cod times printing an article about Cape Cod radio being dead??....yes, it was not their opinion, but I'm sure they loved to print that one.
They should look in the mirror to really see a dead medium
