Changes at QFM?

Seems the bite of the economy may have hit QFM?

Word on the street is the GM, Biz manager, Chief engineer, and production manager will be leaving?

TANK1.... if your post is correct, these jobs are not a loss due to the economy. Without a GM, business manager or engineer a station can't survive long.

If these people are really out, something else has gone down.

Confirmed from employee within building......
Don't know what to think of that.

Maybe they now have only one Engineer on the payroll or they now have only one contract Engineer on call?
If I recall correctly, they had two Engineers on staff when CBS radio owned them.

The one constant with Wicks is constant change.
Something else is going down besides "the economy" excuse.
Hmmm, GM and Biz Mgr, then a CE.
Maybe they did an audit, who knows.

They stand at #5 12+, with three predominantly female formatted stations and a news talk ahead of them. I suspect their Adult numbers are strong and that their Men 25-54 numbers are dominant.

I don't believe a format change is likely. BUT, if there were a flip and Wags & Elliott were cut loose with no ties, WRKZ could be the big winner if they could sign them.

The wisdom of Wilks is....apparently there is no wisdom. The chief engineers replacement was given a tour of the facilities a month ago, under the guise of an "auditor" taking stock of the station's assets. Fred Shaffer's replacement was hired weeks ago, as was the business managers. The Q staff, what's left, has been told to just keep rockin' until they're told otherwise. More cuts expected today. Possibly more sales staff, traffic or air.

Sales Staff cuts...wow...you'd think that they will want familiar faces on the street with their clients as the economy is pretty much crumbling.

Traffic can be done from another one of their facilities...so, big deal.

On Air???? Who are they going to cut...my guess would be anybody not named Chris Thomas is free game. Thomas "GETS" new media and frankly, any radio company wanting to survive the next 10 years needs to have someone like that on their team...I will go as far as saying that that person needs to be one of the centerpieces of their team.

this sounds more like a sale prep, or something...

Looks like a new hire at Wilks Columbus only lasted a week. Pretty telling when someone would rather be unemployed than work for Wilks.
