Changes at TAMA

http://www.sptimes.com/2007/09/15/Business/_WTMP_may_be_sold_in_.shtml

St. Pete Times reports that "A sale, if implemented, would place a white-owned company in charge of Cherry's black-centered radio stations in Tampa (WTMP), Jacksonville and Savannah, Ga. - .

Cherry's family owned company, Tama Broadcasting, this week began leasing nine radio stations to a management firm created by the New York-based investment firm, D.B. Zwirn Special Opportunities Fund."

I always wondered about this company because they seemed to want to fail, and they were so nasty to people both listeners and people/organizations they were doing business with. For example there used to be 1 full time smooth jazz station and 2 brunch shows and each of them had at least a 4.5 share, some were even in double digits. Even when they were competing with each other. TAMA managed to alienate the audience thru inept programming and lack of local presence to the point where, well, go to a website that runs the numbers and take a look.
