Changes at The River

Todd and Sherry are out as the morning team at The River. It sounds like they're syndicating Scott and Sam out of Seattle. There are a lot of pre-recorded bits. According to their web site, Sherry is back at mid-days while Todd is doing 9:30 to Midnight. Tracy is gone.

Nothing against Scott and Sam, but generally speaking I don't appreciate local talent being replaced with syndicated jocks. At least Todd and Sherry are still have jobs.

I just don't get it. All the work over the last decade to brting the station to prominence...Things were finally going well for WCVO with a growing cume, solid morning show, enough musical variety to keep the tsl headed in the right direction...and they had to start changing things.

Now a new satelite-fed Christian fm signs on and they pull their local morning show within 2 weeks.

If anything, I would be touting the live and local angle in everything I did, not abandoning it...but that's just me.

Well, they were passing the collection plate all last week, so maybe they didn't get as many happy returns as they would have liked.

I have no idea. There have been some good people pass through the doors there over the years. But there's no denying that the turnover there is mind boggling.

Their PD, Tate luck recently left to go promote records in Nashville. Maybe He saw the writing on the wall. I understand there are one or two other key players in the building floating resumes around the industry as well.

The station does sound good, though. If you're going to syndicate because of budget, Scott and Sam are a good choice.

Are you talking about 91.5??

Yes, I'm referring to 91.5

Didn't someone post on here that it was eventually to be a talk station?

And on a related note...has anyone heard their TOH legal ID lately? I've listened across TOH several times lately and haven't heard it.

Apparently is is supposed to be running talk "one day" but for now it's a Christian jukebox. I'm not looking at the formatics as much as I am looking at the audience and ministry. It's fm media aimed at the Christian listener. Whether they talk or play music, that listener pie is going to be divided and I just think live and local would be a benefit.

I have listened to several TOH transitions between songs and have yet to hear a legal ID.

I dont think they have legal ID'd over the air since the format change. I don't see why they can't just run the Chelsie Legal id's while they are filling with CCM unless their on a different automation now with the Christian music.

Write it down folks...91.5 will become an affiliate for THE PATH out of Cedarville University.

sadly that would not surprise me... Will be sad if that happens but with 88.1 likely being bumped at some point due to American Family's CP http://www.recnet.com/cdbs/fmq.php?...ountry=US&zip=&party=&party_type=LICEN&jaws=0
they have for Grove City I could see Cedarville cutting a deal to air their programming on WKHC.

How likely is it that WCDR will have to turn their power down in order to accommodate this new one in GC? What's WCDR's status--is it an LPFM?

Cedarville had their chance at 91.5, but lost out to Robb. I would be surprised if those in charge of the decision making at WHKC would make a deal with Cedarville.

Getting back to the topic, the morning show at 104.9 has not been as good since Dan and Tracy. Sad to see the most important time slot on the station go to syndication.

CD-R is a translator at 88.1 (w201ak) they will have to shut off once American Family Asosc builds out their CP. Kinda like the Translator for OhioState's Marion station at 106.7 will have to sign off once Clear Channel moves WMRN to Dublin.

Re: (More) Changes at The River

Some names have gone missing from the staff listing on the website...Matt Hahn(VP), Kellie Hanna(promotions), and Greg Murray (production). I wonder if them disappearing is money related. Must be tough times at The River.
