Night slammer Jake Daniels exits KPLX (The Wolf). His show will be replaced by the syndicated CMT Radio with Cody Alan, according to All Access. Any thoughts??

In Jake's defense, he was never really given the chance to succeed at The Wolf. I heard he was told to just go in and not do anything but intro and
outro songs. His hands were tied. I can't help but be struck by the irony of Cody coming back with a fresh, outside the box, syndicated show at the cumulus stations. After all, Cumulus is the same company that NEVER let Cody (when he was an employee of the Wolf) or ANYONE there presently (including Jake) do a great, interactive, outside the box show.

It is a lil catch 22. Jocks are yelled at if breaks go over 45 seconds...yet 30 of that is the positioning statement and a liner. Compelling content???? Riiiight. I'm all for brevity and getting your point across quickly and running a tight board. But when you strangle local bits, creativity, and phones, then dump a salary for Cody Alan or Seacrest because the "audience deserves to be entertained"....it's an out & out crock.
 
WOW!! Who DIDN'T see that coming?? Now the Cumulus building will be empty by 7:00pm every weekday.

Anyone named Dickey or Mays volunteered to scale down that salary in these "extraordinarily tough economic times"???? Naaaaah. Let's fire a buncha night guys.
