Changes at V 101.1

Check out the website at V 101. The morning team is no where to be found. I heard they were blown out after their show yesterday morning. Lee and Andrea are out, apparently a budget issue.

Translation: they wanted to save a nickel. What's next? A syndicated show?

I wonder if this affects KQOD-Mega 100.1 in Stockton? Lee & Andrea voicetracked their show there.

Lee's a teddy bear --sweet guy, but new programming suits weren't fans of the show.

Word has it they want to put a morning show on KGBY, which they hope will stop the bleeding. The station is getting its ass kicked.

Hmm. I wonder.

No, not really, they are off the "Deejays" list on the Mega 100.1 website, though there is this remnant of their morning show on the "Programs" page, a promo for their entertainment reports:

(Did you honestly expect any other result than them being gone? :D In what scenario would they remain on "Mega", VTing from home? Moving to Stockton?)

Clear Channel already has a pretty lean organization. KGBY, KHLX & KQJK are virtually jockless (with maybe a couple local voicetracked shifts here and there). KHYL was still pretty local with the morning show and such...now getting thinner. KSTE is mostly syndicated except for A&G. KFBK is where all the $$ goes for news production and 24/7 board op.

Less is not more. The highest rated stations in this market all feature live, local talent.

Live and local will always win. There is no way a nationally syndicated show can connect with local listeners. The host can't get out to meet listeners. There is no way to have a local promotion. I guess that could only be possible if you have a mix of syndication and local. When listeners feel connected to the local host, they will remain a loyal listener. Local all day really rocks, which is why 98Rock is so successful.
