Changes at WEEI

Dale & Kirk should be paired up mid-days. They would crush Gresh & Zo, IMO. They are way too good to be on just weekends. Also, while we're on the subject of weekends, Mustard & Johnson continues to be the single worst sports radio show I have ever heard. Sweet mother of hell they define what it is to be unlistenable.
I couldn't agree more. I haven't listened to M&J for years. The show they should be trouncing at the Sports Hub is Gresh and Zo, but they refuse to admit that Mutt was a mistake.

Mornings: Dennis & Meter, with Jayme Parker

Middays: Neumy & Winters

PM Drive: Holley & Meat, rotating 3rd wheel (No Smerlas, DeOssie, Maxwell, McAdam) (Yes to Curt, Fauria, Troy, Buck, Bradford)

Evenings: 'The Real D.A.' Dale Arnold

Thank you for your contributions & best of luck: Gerry, Mutt, Lou, Glenn, Mikey, Jason

Not likely in any way. If the morning show is changed up, Dennis is the one being dumped. Chad Finn wrote in his chat last week "One of his former colleagues once told me not to be so hard on Callahan because he has the toughest gig in Boston media, working with John every day." For all his bitterness, Callahan can still talk sports when prompted. Dennis has checked out.

And Dale is not doing nights as he hosts the Bruins games. And Meat is a terrible host.

I'd really like to think that this proposed lineup is tongue-in-cheek. But maybe not. Everybody has different ideas. I can barely abide Winters doing the flashes, never mind a whole show. They very rarely let Meter even fill in when he worked there and lately Neumy is an embarrasment. He was horrible on the Baseball Show. He goes off on these ridiculous tangents and then realizes that he doesn't have his facts straight. It's kind of pathetic.

The morning flash guy is Kevin Winter.
So who is Winters? Is that a typo or is there a guy named Winters around in the Boston market? I guess I should ask the guy who typed it, shouldn't I?

it seems as though some of the "celebrity" callers are on the Hub, as well--well, I haven't heard Frank from Gloucester or Al from Everett, thankfully.

Mustard and Johnson define awful. I can't believe they still have a show after all this time. And, I'm sorry, Pete Sheppard still comes across as a diction-challenged blowhard.

Danny from Quincy calls The Hub all the time now, or, as he's apparently now known as "Dan from Quincy", by Felger. Lately, I've only heard Frank call The Whiner Line. Last time I heard that jackoff from Fall River call it caused a Pete meltdown on the Saturday before the Pats/Texans playoff game.

A slight aside, i still cannot fathom how or why they cancelled Dale & Holley. Hard to remember a bigger error by WEEI. IMHO that was the best sports show in Boston. Mut is such a little squid.

I'm of the opinion that Steve from Fall River is a mental case. The guy must spend his life "on hold" waiting to call radio stations. When Zolak was on 'EEI briefly he said that he put his station in RI out of business. They apparently were hard up for callers and Steve would call all day long. He gets "blown up" or hung up on almost every time he calls, but he keeps calling. A rational human being wouldn't continue to subject himself to ridicule over and over again. I'm surprised that they take his calls. It's almost always the same speech. Another head case is John from the Cape............Looney Tunes.

Frank from Gloucester is actually kind of funny and he's usually very brief unlike these other ones like Danny or Joey from the North End who want to make speeches. I assume that they still call M&J regularly because I very rarely ever hear them. That is about the only good thing about the M&J show. They handle all of the horrible callers, so the rest of Saturday is safe. I'm surprised to hear that Danny calls Felger and that Felger puts up with him. If you notice Danny never calls any of the datime shows on WEEI during the week. I get the impression that he only wants to deal with the lightweight, weekend types.

I absolutely agree on Dale and Holley and that mutt, Mutt.

WEEI has to honestly admit to their listeners that they "dropped the ball" when they dropped the 850 signal.

Apologize for the mistake, // 850 with 93.7 again, and fire the people who foisted that move. The numbers clearly show it ain't working.

The numbers clearly show no such thing. Add up the numbers for WEEI-FM and -AM in either 6+ or their target demo (men 18-34), and the combined figures don't even come close to WBZ-FM's share.

While some may wish for WEEI-FM's programming to be put back on 850 (some slight areas where
the FMs are shaky?) they made a deal to run ESPN on 850 full time. Gets them some money. Most
people listen to the FM (and there's the 103.7 etc. if 93.7 is shaky). SOME games etc get bounced
to the 850, as last week when C's were on the AM while the FM had the Dial Global feed of
Pats-Ravens. The 850 may also come in handy for Sox-C's conflicts etc.

Since it's said AM gets only 20 per cent of the audience, they figured do the reg sports on FM
and make some $ by putting ESPN on the AM. Crappy ratings? Maybe, but they pocket some money
instead of duplicating the signal

I fear Schilling will show up on WEEI as he desperately needs a job and is flat broke.

I am a little surprised at how badly ESPN 850 is showing as I thought Mike and Mike would have done a little better.

EEI is also stuck as being the flagship of 2 teams on a downward spiral while 98.5 looks to have a few good months with the Bruins.

EEI would also be wise to give Jack Edwards more airtime as he is well versed in all sports, just not hockey.

The irony here is that the move to 93.7 happened exactly when the wheels fell off the Red Sox in September of 2011.

Mike and Mike might be the entirety of their listenership, we don't know. Without the breakout, it's impossible to tell.

Virtually all of 850's listeners were P1s. 103.7 at best drew about 0.5; after 93.7 came on 103.7 pulled a 0.2. 103.7 is not a real factor in the Boston Book.

In the 3+ years of WEEI/WBZ-FM battles, WBZ-FM beat WEEI maybe 4 or 5 times. Nobody will argue that the Sox and the Celtics were NOT responsible for THOSE Books! Since 850 abandoned their core listenership, WEEI has been firmly ensconced in the 2s. I do not remember any time in the past few years that WEEI wasn't in the top ten OR pulled anything in the 2s! Much as I I'd love to pin these post 850 Books on the C's and Sox, WEEI did this all by themselves!

Sure, run different programming on 93.7 and 850 after midnight! Certainly split 850 and 93.7 to cover Sox - C's conflicts or special sports programming! This gives WEEI a competitive edge on WBZ-FM and they should exploit that advantage!

It is time to quit drinking the "gotta move to FM before it is too late!" Kool-Aid. It did nothing for WMAL, WEPN, WFAN... People listen to AM radio for the programming and sports has been very good to (and for) AM! Unless your programming is on a signal challenged AM (which 850 is NOT for the Boston Book!) ...

What do you consider a better ROI: Extra coin running ESPN on 850 for a 0.6 and a 2.7 on 93.7 -- Or 850//93.7 for numbers well into the 4s and stomping 98.5 back down where they belong?

Think about it...

Jack Edwards would definitly be good radio material as you could draw a lot of the Bruins fans to his show alone. Plus he's fun on t.v. and his rants are pretty funny. As someone who defected from EEI...I'd flip back listen to a Jack Edwards show.

This should be an easy dispute to resolve. What were the numbers before and what are they now?

who says they belong behind weei maybe its not just the fm only signal maybe its the content?? Like others have said too many celeb callers and old people talking over each other. The sports hub is where its at right now!!
