First off, i am an outsider and not in the radio business so my opinions will either matter a lot or not at all. But very recently, I noticed WKOS again changed formats to CHR or well Top 40 ... welcome back to top 40 at 1049 by the way.. listened to them in 80s and early 90s when they were top 40 with different call letters. Not sure what is going on but they have dropped Kidd Kraddick in Morning which seems to fit CHR best and not whatever they played before. PLEASE GOD if Ryan Seacrest is on this new station i am just gonna throw myself out.... LOL and I hope they dropp Billy Bush too, thing is from a listener's point of view you will never win listeners when most of programing is not local. Morning shows okay but anything else?? come on programers I think if some of you all don't start getting a clue what we like the mp3 players and/or satelite radio will take more and more from listeners. Kinda like politics, is anyone listening to us normal folks??? If so i don't think what we have here in tricities would be on radio, two almost same alternative rock stations, god knows the country stations and then there is now the two CHR stations which leaves us very little variety.
I know it all about the money but i will tell you, if you ask a normal person they want more variety on the dial, not more of the same!! So something needs to start to give or my mp3 player will be filled with more and more music and my radio buttons will grow dusty.

Don't get me started as I just got the boot from there last week. I don't think it matters what the listeners want, it's basically what will cost us the least and run pretty much without anyone ever having to touch it, or work on it. Bottom line is money, money, money. Radio stations all over the country have talented air people pushing buttons and not saying a word, maybe it's cost efficient but does it sound good? I have decided to do internet radio, more freedom but no pay. At least my creative side will get to do what I've always wanted to "a show" And, you can pretty much say what you want to say. Meanwhile, I am 41 and searching for a new career. I guess I needed this cause lord knows terrestrial radio is dying a slow, agonizing death. Some say it's going the way of print media. I'll miss all the folks I've worked with!

41 and still in radio is remarkable! Radio as in over the air, does remind me of the old days when FM was just starting to roll AM under the bus. Is it going to actually go toes up? At times I so believe it but then in a slightly lucid moment I remind myself there are still humans out there that want to advertise whatverthehellitisthey do or make and they could care if they reach Guam or Tampa cause the folks they by their whateverthehellitis live in their own back yard. With Newspapers gasping on their last ounce of profit (bout browned my undies when I found out their margin 10 years ago) and local TV having no clue how to fight 300 channels radio in some form just might be like that roach that slivers out from under the foundation after the big one is dropped. Least I sure do hope it will!

Sorry Winnie! I miss the Tri-Cities and all of the GREAT folks there, John Patrick, Jeri George, Misty Reed, JB Stone, Susan & Tara in traffic, Bill Meade, Debbie Caso, Mona Macy, Budd, Angela, Larry & everyone in sales, of course Richard Lovett. Everyone there at 162 Fee Hill in Gray are always in my thoughts and I miss them so. I kind of expected to get the boot in 2008, I was surpised it didn't happen sooner. When I started reading where other night time ROCK talent was getting the BOOT it doesn't take a ROCKET SCIENTIST to figure out where things are! I am fortunate is many ways that I don't have a wife to uproot and kids to pull out of school! After my experiences with the CORPORATE world of Broadcasting since I left Panama City Beach over three years ago, and had Stylesmedia still had the cluster in PCB I may have NEVER left there, I don't want to get back into a LARGE market CORPORATE scenario, especially after I saw how places in BIG BAD MARKET 15 Phoenix, AZ were ran! I am with a smaller company in an unrated market in Jackson, WY that has shown me the support and belief and has given me the tools to succeed here! The SAD thing is I am making MORE money here in Jackson, WY than I would have been making in Phoenix, AZ! Best Wishes on everything and I am sure the decision wasn't made in Gray, TN but elsewhere to let you go. I mean if the GM at WIVK in Knoxville isn't safe with Citadel who is? Good Luck and GOD Bless!

;DThanks Yoda!! I haven't been on here in forever, so I just saw your post....I didn't want you to think I'm rude!! I'm glad you are happy and doing well. I've just begun to start a new business venture that should be pretty lucrative (think tuppeware parties from the 70's and now subsitute burping bowls for lube and adult toys) So many people in the past have told me I'd be good at doing these kinds of parties so I decided to invest in it and see what happens. It's nice to be at home with my kids and not have to worry about "corporate policies" and who is going to get the axe next!! I'm like you, I do miss most all the people I worked with (save the few who never liked me to begin with)!!! w00t!!!! I'm excited about the future!! I'll just wait and see about doing radio, I still wish I could make money doing online radio...we'll see what the future holds!!
