Is Larry Brennan still doing afternoons at WOBM-AM ? I know that the simulcast with WADB-AM has been dropped. How about Larry ???

Unfortunately, Larry has been dropped, too. They should have moved Larry to morning drive on WOBM, as he has a nice on-air personality. The cranky old fart who is currently on the air in the mornings is a cyanide pill for the ratings. While a good morning show is like a good cup of coffee, the current WOBM morning show is like a nauseating dose of castor oil. Put Larry on in the morning and Tom Maciaszek on in the afternoon and Millennium would have a winning station with two friendly key personalities that know how to relate to people from the Shore area.

As an alternative, they should have put Larry back into the morning drive slot on WADB. He is no stranger to the country format, as he did that format when WJLK was a country station ("Where Jersey Loves 'Kountry'").

People at the Shore want friendly, local personalities, good music, and local news. They don't want to hear a cranky old man (even if he is from the area), nor do they want a jockless jukebox.

True...but you must admit that the quality of radio programming on many local stations in New Jersey has taken a nosedive since deregulation and the resulting corporate feeding frenzy. Moreover, I would not want to work again at many of the stations where I did burn those bridges, as they had become lousy places to work.

I never worked for Millennium and I do not hold any animosity toward that company; in fact, I had wanted to return to NJ 101.5 when their chief engineer left to move to the West, as I enjoyed working for that station in the past. However, firing Larry Brennan and keeping Bob and Marianne Levy on the air in morning drive is an incredibly stupid programming move for WOBM. If you can obtain a copy of the Arbitron book for Monmouth-Ocean, take a look at the dayparts on WOBM (AM). You will definitely see anemic numbers in morning drive...and that is very bad for a station, as morning drive sets the pace for the rest of the day's business.

Yes, I am outspoken, as I have long had a love for radio broadcasting. But I am not a corporate wh0re who is given an ice cream cone full of excrement and who has to pretend that it is delicious chocolate fudge ice cream.

Meanwhile, I think I'll stay here in William Penn's Icebox and watch those ships sink east of the Delaware River...at least until the next wave of station sales and the next group of owners comes in to try to refloat them...or to sink them well into the muck while sucking as much money as possible out of them.
