Changes at WQIO

Not a regular listener to 93.7, but have noticed a much wider selection of music, the old morning show has been missing, John Tesh runs after midnight, eliminating the one hour request show from 12-1 AM. Also, it seems like they have some live talent in a studio upon occasion.

Does anybody know what they are up to?

Did WQIO(BAS) switch from ABC satellite programming to Dial Global programming?I cannot pick up 93.7,most of the time.I am a big fan of Dial Global products!

Well,
I do not see how, the jocks are different, the music is different, the shows are changed and none of the new stuff matches the ABC listings at all. The morning show has changed, the Saturday night 80's was a 70's show, they have played music I have not heard in 15 years. Lots more local Mt Vernon info, as well as local sponsors that were not there before.

It also seems like 93.3 changed things up to match, as they have been playing alot of songs they have not had in rotation, and making a point of mentioning it on the air.

Maybe 93.3 has shifted some new songs into the rotation and some old ones out.  Big deal.  As long as you can still hear Lionel Richie into Barry Manilow, chances of any real evolution look sadly slim, and the station remains a disastrous waste of a rare big signal...even less defensible now that there is one fewer music-playing big FM in-town.

OK, I give, I clearly heard the call letters WQIQ twice yesterday.

Out of all you smart people, nobody knows what they are up to?

Or nobody really cares? ;)

LOL....

Later!

WQIO dropped the ABC/Citadel "Hits and Favorites" satellite feed, as was the case with fellow "Eagle" - WFRO/99.1 "Eagle 99." Interestingly, the "Hits and Favorites" slogan was apparently retained, but both stations have new (albeit incomplete) websites and streaming.

Both stations have picked up the Waitt Radio Networks SAC channel feed (which is apparently more of a VTing service along the lines of how Tesh's show is handled) but maintain ABC news affiliations. Agreed, the air sound is much better than before (I live just at the fringe of WQIO signal to the north, and there is a two-to-three minute delay between songs right now... I would not be surprised if there is more independance of music scheduling between both stations in the future).

WQIO may have inserted local talent into the mix, but I can't tell just yet. Not yet with WFRO, though they've been plugged into the wheel-and-spokes newscast and sportscast feeds from the Sandusky cluster (two out of the three are also subscribers to Waitt).

idk if Tesh's show was extended by accident or not... WQIO's website says it still runs from 7pm to 12am. And the jock liners now read "WQIO-FM: Eagle 93.7..."

Out of the BAS station group, only their AM standards/oldies stations (WMVO/Mt. Vernon, WLEC/Sandusky, WTTF/Tiffin) and an FM oldies station (WOHF/Bellevue) are ABC/Citadel subscribers.

WQIO and it's sister is likely on the Waitt "Storq" automation system, the music runs local and the VT's are customized for the local market.

WMVO/WLEC/WTTF run Citadel/ex-ABC's "Timeless", formerly "Timeless Favorites" et al., the current permutation of their standards-into-soft AC-slash-oldies format. WOHF/92.1 Bellevue is running Citadel's "Classic Hits Radio", nee "Pure Gold"/"Oldies Radio" - the format Jim Zippo used to be PD/mornings for.

I know far too much of this minutae about satellite formats. :D
