Changes coming soon in Terre Haute?

Power 102.7 or Rock 102 sounds good to me. Midwest has ads running in all the trades looking for staff. Does this mean that those that have worked their butts off for CR are gonna be out?

I hope they get opportunities. Doc and Marty do a nice job on 104.9, really doing a nice job promoting local events in Parke, Vermillion, and even Vigo counties. For the small signal and small staff, it really is a nice station.

Jules and Kyle have put a lot of work into 102.7 to make the station better the last few months. There used to be long periods of dead air (especially on weekends), no jocks in the mornings or weekends, and the same 5 beaten down jingles playing over and over. All of these problems seem long gone. Not sure how I feel about the slow progression towards a more Hot A/C approach the station has gone, but it fits their talent better, and the station needed major freshening up.

Real question is if 95.9 drops classic hits, and 102.7 goes country or rock, there will be a huge hole for an adult hits,Hot AC, or AC station in the market. Wonder if this is what Emmis will do with 92.7 if the rumors are true they are buying it.

Would not think Midwest would do Country against the monster WTHI however theyn are not the smartest broadcasters in the business. CR deservest to be out of broadcasting for they have no clue how to run a radio station or how to hire qualified people to manage their radio stations. They do have some quality people like Doc and Marty and there are folks in the market that could have made a difference in these stations but CR refused to reach out and take advantage of them. Think Kathy Walker is still in the market, Tony Clark is still in the market, and there are others that have talent and could have made something of these "local" stations. It is a shame that CR owners could not drive the few miles from Indy to take control of these stations before it became to late! Guess in our day of video conference, emails, and other instant communications it was to time consuming for Dan Lacy to look after his investments.

No offense Milo, but everything in that article has been discussed here for months. Also Mott's article contained few facts and a lot of speculation. His work for the Trib-Star has been pure garbage.

95.9 The Edge was registered to Midwest Communications of Indiana.

I assume WOW COUNTRY being registered to MCIRADIOTHI means country on 102.7. Just by name alone, but I could be wrong.

Sports will be on 1300AM

It does give one pause that of all the stations in the market not a single one is locally owned. Not that it's of great consequence, but that point was not one discussed at great length here.

Country is probably worth a try for Midwest. They will never unseat mighty HI-99, but they could grab some share, and advertisers, with it. If it doesn't work, little is lost and a format change will happen. If it does work, it could be a great move.

X 95 9 has arrived! Heard Muse and Harvey Danger just after 8:00 AM, also accross the border in Marshall, IL, WMMC 105.9 has picked up Tom Kent! Will this new format on 95.9 hurt mixx-fm?

So much for "The Edge" moniker?

Very excited this format has come to Terre Haute. Not really crazy about the name "X-959", somewhat of a mouthful. Doubt it hurts Mix much, might take away some of their men 18-34, but that would be about it.

Let's all hope that Midwest does more with it than make it a voice tracked jukebox. As long as they treat it like that it will not succeed (like all previous formats on 95.9).

Some entertainment with some edge in the morning to go with the rock music would help them take some Bob & Tom listeners.

If Midwest makes 102.7 country once that acquisition happens, one has to wonder if Emmis will take their rumored pickup of 92.7 and go right after Mix. Could be an interesting few months!

I'd hate to see 102.7 go country. It's the last regular AC in the market.

I'm for another country outlet to challenge HI-99, but dropping AC would be a mistake.

I hate to have another country station. I have to agree with what one of my friends who has experience in programming, and that's 102.7 go with a Gold-biased AC or a Classic Hits format.

After a couple days of listening to X959, the music is great, and the station has very, very good imaging. The talent during the day is not bad, but by no means nothing special either. Rather dry jock personality with very little attitude or passion. Hopefully, they slowly will be a bit more interactive with both the community and listener. Given it is only the first few days of the format, surely they will do more of this as time progresses.

Pretty sure only mornings are done from Terre Haute, and the rest is piped in from other Midwest Communications markets. Heard one of the jocks promoting a concert in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. Also have heard totally wrong songs ID'd and some dead air. That's pretty disappointing, as I feel this station has a great chance to succeed, but they will have to add more local talent and have the station out a lot.

Overall, I think the people of the Wabash Valley are going to be pretty happy with this station, and if they continue improvements, will be a top 3 or 4 station within 12-18 months.
