Changes coming to 92.1?

This Guy Mr David E.

"This Guy" has no money and nobody with money is going to back a format that is well beyond its expiration date.

Even though Puro Tejano said it’s coming back for a few hours Monday -Friday on a full fm station . I think it might be on 92.1 since Daniel M us being offered a station presumible from Urban 1

Daniel M?? The same one running the illegal franken FM on Channel 6 in Beaumont?

There is no option to "decline". A station has to protect its first adjacent and second adjacent channels per very precise FCC rules. 92.1 is at the closest location to Houston that it can be at... moving any farther north, if possible, would require a reduction in power... so no gain.

And lest we forget, moving 92.1 to its current location required the then-KRTS to pay to move what was then KTRU 91.7.

If there was a better option, Stude would have taken it back then to increase the value of the station before flipping it to Radio One.

It's as good as it's going to get.

Meanwhile, DJ Riddler has left the station to concentrate on his club gigs.

Obviously, there are other allocation concerns, but I wonder what kind of improvement could be had for the remaining signal if either 92.1 or 91.7 fell on the sword by moving further out and downgrading?

With 91.7 gone, given the IF spacing to 102.9, it looks like 92.1 could get close to the Missouri City tower farm as a C2 and maybe even land on one of those sticks as a C3.

With 92.1 gone, without IF concerns to any full power station in Houston, KXNG might even have more latitude to move back into Houston proper.

Could KSBJ be a potential buyer for 92.1?

You'd have to move KETX in Livingston as well (and convince KADL to power down).

It's possible to shuffle around stations just like EMF/Emmis will do in Corpus/San Antonio/Austin. But I don't see this happening under Urban One's watch. I also don't think KSBJ would be an interested buyer. EMF is a possibility, but do you think KSBJ would help the competition?

Gave KROI a listen OTA for an hour or so today... it sounds like they are feeding the transmitter with some sort of low-bitrate STL, maybe a 32kbps MP3 stream. With the ridiculous amount of compression artifacts I heard, there's no wonder why nobody is listening, it sounds awful!
