Changes coming to 93.1 & 95.7 ?

I can't understand why they're creating a new social media pages instead of just transitioning the existing ones, especially since the format isn't that much different. It pretty much means they have to start from scratch and regain followers. Most other name (and even format) changes have followed with the same page, but renamed. For example: Gen-X -> MyFM, Lite -> Play, Country Legends -> The Hawk (they even managed to switch to that interim Garth on social media), Talk 105.1 -> Easy Rock -> GHL (they did restart when they went to Old School 105.1 though).

I disagree an active rock format is very different from a alternative format. You wont hear death cab or the neighborhood or vance joy or the struts or the strumbellas or twentyone pilots on a active rock station you will on a alternative station. Very different formats.

It's similar enough though. We're not talking about a big change that completely obliterates the previous playlist, like going from hip hop to country or conservative talk to hot AC. It is more like when 100.5 went from Gen-X to MyFM, or even when Easy Rock went to GHL. Still has very similar targets and a lot of the stuff is the same, but not all. And if you look at a lot of these Alt stations, half of their playlist is identical to what they've been playing on 93.1 anyway (things like Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc.). The stuff like Death Cab for Cutie? I don't even expect them to play that kind of stuff too much (if at all), but who knows. I'd mostly just expect the more "metal" stuff to disappear, but the rest pretty much stay the same.

93.1 went alternative a couple years ago. After the format switched back to active rock, one of the DJs joked about playing rock again, they jokingly said "and here is Coldplay." Now they are going back, again.
I also heard Vanetti this morning say a big change is happening at 10 am tomorrow. I hope not, but I have a feeling it will combine the current fox with harder classics rock. I am hoping that they will take more of a classic hits format with current rock mixed in. They just added some classic hits (INXS, Modern English, FIXX, etc) and they have a female now saying the station ID.
I wonder how many people will be fired?

I think the firings are done for now. There will probably be some shuffling of the air talent. Some people may be pulled off the air, but not fired.

If you look at the playlist of the fox and alt 98.7 in la you will see what i mean. Some overlap but very different formats.

The LA one is very, very different (and much better) from the rest. But if you look at, say, Indianapolis or Tacoma, you've practically got The Fox minus Metallica and System of the Down. The LA one is a true alternative station and I'd love something like that. The others are more or less hybrids that aren't quite alternative.

I say Tony V goes exclusively to 790 KRD. He must be stretched pretty thin these days. Mudd does his old shift on QMF.

I'm wondering if the WTFX-FM call letters will change. If 93.1 drops them I'm sure they will be scooped up quickly.Maybe even just parked somewhere like WLRS is on 1600 AM.
Another thing I've always wondered and maybe someone on here knows. As far as I know there wasn't a WTFX on AM so why is 93.1 WTFX-FM?

I feel like Mudd would remain on 93.1... but who knows.

As bad as Bob and Tom is, there aren't any better alternatives out there nationally. I guess there is Rover's Morning Glory if that is leaving 93.1 (probably), but that's actually a lot worse than Bob and Tom.

Considering MyFM is still WLGX, I don't think they care anymore. There have been a few other WTFX's out there. There is a WTFX-TV in Philadelphia (the Fox affiliate) and I believe there was an AM WTFX somewhere along the southeastern coast (maybe one of the Carolinas?) at some point in time.

I really hate active/alternative hybrids. Either one or the other they dont belong together. Hopefully it will be exclusively alternative no active.

I'd love a local morning show, but really don't see that happening. As for Rover being worse than B+T, I agree completely.
