Changes coming to 93.1 & 95.7 ?

From what I've heard so far, they sound very similar to the Fox from about 20 years ago. Good tempo. Maybe we'll hear some Jackyl and White Zombie later :)

93.1 went alternative a couple years ago. After the format switched back to active rock, one of the DJs joked about playing rock again, they jokingly said "and here is Coldplay." Now they are going back, again.
I also heard Vanetti this morning say a big change is happening at 10 am tomorrow. I hope not, but I have a feeling it will combine the current fox with harder classics rock. I am hoping that they will take more of a classic hits format with current rock mixed in. They just added some classic hits (INXS, Modern English, FIXX, etc) and they have a female now saying the station ID.
I wonder how many people will be fired?

I hate it when I am right. Not impressed or surprised with the choice. I was hoping for some big changes to Wqmf, but really it's just a minor tweak. They have already been playing pearl jam, aic, foo fighters, rhcp for over a year. If they would have kept the same or expanded the classic rock playlist and just added 2000-2016 rock songs that would have been awesome.

I wonder when Alt will come on the air (assuming that it actually is). They've been teasing that it would be coming on Wednesday so you'd think it would be sometime today.

Yeah, I've been tuning to WQMF off and on today and I haven't noticed any difference at all any time I've turned it on. The minor tweak you're noticing is more than I've noticed.

I heard Faith no MOre and a couple of different songs from AIC and foo fighters. The biggest change: they eliminated about half of the classic rock playlist. I thought they might start playing current rock like Shinedown. But nothing this century so far. Dissapointing to say the least.

I think what is confusing me is that it seems that The Fox (on their HD2) is playing more classic rock than WQMF is playing current rock on the main channel. Right now, Scorpion is playing. Out of the last 10 songs on WQMF HD-2, 4 of them are 80s or earlier (Scorpion, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Kiss and Lynyrd Skynard). Meanwhile, over on the regular WQMF, only one of the past 10 songs is something they probably wouldn't have played before today, and even it isn't all that new (it was Shinedown, ironically, since that was mentioned earlier... but also a song that is about 8 years old too).

The beat it is already on wikipedia and the morning show will be the syndicated breakfast club out of ny. Dissappointing hip hop is fine but louisville is to small for two hip hop stations. Thats why they got rid of charlie steele.

I'm wondering if the WTFX-FM call letters will change. If 93.1 drops them I'm sure they will be scooped up quickly.Maybe even just parked somewhere like WLRS is on 1600 AM.
Another thing I've always wondered and maybe someone on here knows. As far as I know there wasn't a WTFX on AM so why is 93.1 WTFX-FM?

Pretty sure an AM in Virginia that ran Fox Sports used the WTFX calls and necessitated the change to WTFX-FM in Louisville. It almost seems like the old Clear Channel donated it for a tax write off, but don't quote me on that.

The way I see it, 93.1, 96.5, and 105.1 (even if that one is older stuff) can't all coexist for long. One of them will ultimately be cannibalized by the other two. It won't be 96.5 obviously.

The other remaining question is if they're seriously planning to continue the Fox as just an HD2 and online station, with keeping everything as it currently is. It seems like something that could work better on a translator if they're planning to put that much into it.

Just a few thoughts.Somewhere down the road I could see the Fox return to 100.5 to replace MY-FM.Looking at their FB there are a lot of angry listeners.Reminds me of the backlash when WLRS switched to "Love 102".It wasn't long before 105.1 was bought and WLRS was resurrected. IHeart could also flip WLGX to "ALT-100.5"
I think that 105.1 will be the casualty in this new urban format war.I liked both the Soft Rock and the Classic Hits format they had previously and hope one of those return to 105.1.
Of course Alpha Media could always ask David Smith for the WLRS call letters back and we could have 'LRS Alive at 105 once again :)
I actually enjoyed the "Everything That Rocks" format on WLRS until the audio was so bad it was unlistenable.

WQMF briefly had a decent classic hits station on their HD-2. It reminded me a lot of Louie (both 100.5 and 104.3). Of course that is gone now.

WTFX HD-2 still has The Alt Project though, at least for now. So in a sense, there is sort of an Alt 93.1.

Seems to me da peeps in da ville just dont care for alternative rock. If that were the case it would be alt 93.1 not the beat. I doubt 91.9 fpk would do well as a commercial station. Iheart had there chance to put something really cool on and they blew it.

It's funny, with this change, the only commercial FM stations remaining on my presets are 95.7, 98.3, 107.7, 103.5, and 101.3 (their quiet storm block at nights often has some really good stuff that you'll never hear anywhere else these days). 93.1 has joined 100.5, 102.3, 106.9, 104.3, and 105.1 in my "discard" pile.

We've been lucky to get some decent non-commercial stations lately though. 91.9 of course has been there for 20 years now, but 88.1 and now 98.5 (Jeffersonville High School's new LP radio station) are both great. 97.1 (ArtXFM) and 100.9 (Crescent Hill Radio) are great too.
