Changes Coming To CBS News

I hope this isn't permanent, but the fix is easy. After "On the Road", which I missed the beginning of, there was a summary of the day's news. Now, I record the last ten minutes instead of the last five but I still have to find the beginning of the story.

Interesting that while the weekday edition of Evening News has moved to DC, the weekend edition remains in the old studio in NYC.

Watching the show tonight, the studio seems emptier than it once was. Lots of empty desks. Then again, it's the weekend.

The CBS Weekend News is produced by the CBSN department, using their set. CBSN remains based in NYC, and I have heard of no plans to relocate that department.

The CBS Evening news had, for several years, shared a set with the CBS Morning News.

It said it was coming from the CBS Broadcast Center in NY, which is the same building where the Evening News was based.

Perhaps a different studio in the same building. It's a huge building. But yes, I now see the CBSN logo on a monitor behind the anchor.

FOLLOW-UP: I did some research and found that yes, the Weekend News comes from the CBSN studio, which is located near the old Evening News studio. That studio, named Studio 57, is now used for CBS Overnight News.

Reince Priebus, former Trump White House chief of staff and former chair of the Republican National Committee, has been named a political analyst for CBS News.

The announcement came Wednesday, the same day Priebus participated in special coverage of President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial alongside “CBS Evening News” anchor and executive producer Norah O’Donnell, “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan, “60 minutes” correspondent Lesley Stahl and senior political analyst John Dickerson.

A former Trump Cabinet member will join CBS News and CBSN as a Pundit during the impeachment hearings.

"I think about just doing my job. I don’t see the ratings. They don’t talk about them with me. What I can focus on is what is on the air every day. I read every script, I look at intros. If somebody says, “I need help reporting something out,” I can help make phone calls. So my day is pretty busy."

If she indeed does think she can live in a bubble unaware of the ratings, she is deluding herself. A loss of ratings to a level higher than she has been able to generate torpedoed the tenure of her previous two predecessors.

I think her answer is appropriate. She has a staff around her who focus on all of the other details in a show. She's not going to put on a clown suit to get ratings.
