Changes coming to Durham's WSRC

WSRC, 1410 AM, the Triangle's first station to program for the black audience, will be changing call letters and making some programming changes, though not a format change, according to two stories in this morning's Durham Herald-Sun . The change happens on March 16 when Davidson Media assumes control.

Well, for those of us outside of the listening area of the station, what are the new call letters, and what does the station sound like now?

Also, did they move into WTIK's digs at 707 Leon St., or are they somewhere else now.

Inquiring minds want to know...

The big "last day" touted in the local paper was their last day at 3202 Guess Rd. They signed on the next day from WTIK's Leon St. studios. As far as the sound...it's pretty much the same as before (black gospel and ministry), and the historic WSRC calls will remain in use until April 1st, upon which time they will become WRJD. The technical sound of the station has not improved with the move, but hasn't gotten worse. They did begin announcing with the station ID, that they are, "A Davidson Media Station". The sign-off program last Wednesday was pretty interesting, though. Lots of old-timers talking about the station's history.
