Changes coming to Providence TV

I just recently saw a promo on WJAR saying that on September 12th, Ellen will move from 3 pm to 4 pm, which I'm not too surprised about. They didn't say what will take its place at 3 pm though. I also noticed that both WPRI and WNAC air the Nate Berkus show at 9 am, which I can't understand. I know that for many many years, WPRI was the home of the 700 Club, which has now moved to WLNE. Why is the 700 club still on the air anyway? Most people I've talked to think that show needs to be cancelled. But why are 2 stations allowed to air the same show at the same time if they're in the same market?

Usually if a show is on two different stations then those stations are both co-owned in some way and can share such programming. In NYC Channel 9 and Channel 5 do the same thing. As for why a show is on twice a day in many markets (one station or two for the airing) it is a ratings trick as they can count both airings that day as one show and get a cumulative rating and sometimes double what the actual single rating of that a show is.
