106.7 Free FM has a new program director. First thing new PDs do are make changes. Who will be the first to go?

I cast my vote for Unzipped, their evening sex talk show. It's terrible. It sounds like student radio (except the faculty advisor is away). They went to the bottom of the barrel for the hosts. The guy, Michael Checkoway, was a sports talk producer from Philly. He might have possibilities but he really doesn't have the pipes for big city radio. He does his homework, seems to prepare for topics, asks good questions and makes good comments; he must have been a good producer. The chick, Michelle Jerson, is hopeless. I have no idea how she got the job but it sure wasn't talent. From looking at their website, she comes from a station in Trenton, New Jersey where she briefly did a sex talk show solo (and apparently was fired after a few months). On the air, she comes off as a self absorbed teenage Princess. She keeps turning topics back to herself. She ends each sentence with giggles. She never introduces anything; she just comments on stuff Michael or callers bring up (I guess she doesn't like show prep). She keeps trying to flirt and be cute and it's really annoying. She has an obnoxious NooYawk accent.

FreeFM has gone through a lot shaking down since they started. They've gotten better in other dayparts but this evening show is terrible. I don't care how cheap these two work, it's not worth it.

They do prep, I have to say that. In fact, the show has kind of grown on me. It started out herky jerky, but as they've become more comfortable with each other, it's become a better show.

Checkoway is weak. His voice disappears into the traffic noise, and I just don't buy that he's anybody to listen to for relationship advice. Michelle is stronger (and it's a Jersey accent, much different from NYC).

If they keep improving, it will be at least passable compared to the other shows. I think it's far better than Penn Gillette who A) laughs at all his own jokes B)feels a desperate need to tell everybody how shocking and how original his ideas are, and C) has become the Hollywood whore he used to make fun of.

I can't listen to him for more than five minutes without being hammered by his "oh I'm so precocious and special and smart" attitude. Yeah, we get it, your show is Bullsh*t, say fifty more times and hour, it just gets funnier and funnier.

It's okay to me as well. It would be nice to have either the Junkies back in the evenings or Ron & Fez. I would love to hear Ron & Fez again without XM.
