I agree that "BPM" has went downhill in a HUGE way in the past couple of months since Skyy has taken over. It might as well be called "Circuit 81" now, because that cheesy NYC House sound is all they are playing now. They should have left Alan Freed in charge because, musically, he did a MUCH better job. If they add more dj's and personality, then I do think that is a good move and I welcome it; but if they continue this refocusing on nothing but NYC "diva" House, then I won't be listening. Don't get me wrong, I like some of the NYC House stuff, but I just don't want it all the time. My favorite stuff has always been the Euro-vocal-trance, and "BPM" used to play a lot of this. However, since Skyy has taken over, the amount of Euro-trance sounding stuff has dramatically decreased and now you are lucky to hear 1 of these an hour. Sure the variety and depth of the playlist has increased, but it's all been NYC House stuff. (even the "Backspins" are now nothing but 90's house). What about artists like Lasgo, 4 Strings, Ian Van Dahl, Armin Van Buuren, Darude, Kate Ryan, Fragma, DJ Sammy, Angel City, QED, Ago, Paul Van Dyk, Andain, Lazard, Foggy, Perpetous Dreamer, etc. This awesome euro-trance music was a big part of "BPM", and it has been virtually removed since Skyy's arrival.
I am willing to keep an open mind and I hope that maybe on 1/9 when the new shows and dj's begin that the sound will be more balanced. But if not, and the non-stop focus on NYC House continues, then the only revolution will be the sound of my radio dial "revolving" away from BPM and XM.
