Changes for the not so Mighty "B-97.3"

Thanks AQH, That's what I thought I heard, but I do tend to tune out. No matter how you slice it though, they're all over the map. A play list that includes The Who, Gloria Gaynor, Bread and The Beach Boys is just unfocused and trying to do too much. They key to a successful radio station is consistency. KBSG used to have that going for it, but no more. You don't know what you're going to get whenever you tune in. This is not going to work to their advantage.
Is that a better trashing AQH? :-*

I agreed with the point your were trying to make the first time. I just happened to be listening at the same exact time.

Your point didn't need the embellishing, that's all.

Tuned in this morning and am a bit ashamed to admit I liked it. Lot's of music in the morning and kind of an upbeat delivery from Phillips. Maybe this is kind of the JACK format for Oldies. Lot's of variety and not much talk. Still got the basic weather, news and local events. This new PD may be smarter than we all think. I actually gave the station a pre-set, and I am in my late 30's, hardly the target for KBSG. I heard some Stones, Beatles and one disco song I could have done without. Still, it was different and more pop than KJR-FM, which has the rock pop sound. Seems KZOK has the Classic Rock, KJR-FM the Pop Rock and KBSG the pop of the 60's and 70's era. I guess ratings will tell the story in the coming months.

All very fair and valid points.

But look at how you described the station: not Jack, not KJR-FM, not KZOK. Nobody's going to make a living at a station that depends on what others are not in order to describe itself.

it sure seemed like the station had alot more energy when it still was kbsg and jay coffee was pd,the jingle package was much better. i still like the station, but i think jay coffee was taking the station to the next level in a good way.

....You don't know what you're going to get whenever you tune in.......

Umm...isn't that what started the JACK thing?...

While I understand the idea of continuity (as much as I love "Fantasy" Aldo Nova, I'd really hate to hear it segued into "Send In The Clowns" Judy Collins.) But there are times when a music programmer tends to select only the same tempo of songs and they get really boring after a while.

Which brings me back to KWLE (my wife has lifted the KWLE-only exile she put on me not because of their initial mistakes and she has said they are improving - especially in the mornings, but she missed me watching holidays specials with her and the kids on TV.)

I knew I'd win that bet...

I think a variety of things can exist on a generally pop station as long as they are not long-ass Jurassic Rock album cuts like "Stranglehold" Ted Nugent.

In fact, KWLE has actually rekindled my interest in today's pop music (when working and dealing with people who live and breathe Tupac Shakur or the Juggalo freak fans of Insane Clown Posse, your entire faith in humankind can be put to the test, not just current music.) I kinda see it now as a 2007 version of Z-Rock 1590. Yes, disgustingly, it was delivered mostly by satellite, but nobody else locally was willing to do something decent for AM in the Northwest and in the end, I'd rather hear that, warts and all than another damn religious/talk/sports/oldies station.....and I'm 39 now.

Not that I'm any Lifehouse, Taylor Swift or Ingrid Michaelson fan (although I admit their songs have made me run for an extra insulin shot now and then.) But I find it refreshing in my truck (an old, but trusty '65 Ford F-100 which has been the GREATEST vehicle I have ever owned. The original upholstery still looks good and it still has the original factory built AM radio though four owners, two of those periods, me) and countless miles. Which I ain't changing, why screw with a classic?

Ahhhhh...so much egg nog, so much bandwith....See you later! Hope you all had a WONDERFUL Christmas!!
