Providence has been a stable and relatively stale radio market for quite some time. Anybody want to guess as to possible format changes or other moves in 2015? Here are some thoughts:
1. What will come of the B101 signal downgrade? Will CC move the arguably more successful Classic Hits format to the stronger signal on 93.3, and move Coast's Adult CHR format to the downgraded 101.5?
2. Will CC simulcast B101 and Cool 102 once both signal downgrades are complete? Simulcasting the two would be a way for B101's format to hit Southern Rhode Island and SE Massachusetts, especially since B101's new signal will have trouble reaching these areas and even Cool's downgraded stick might cover this land better than B101's.
3. Given the popularity of the Country format nationwide, might Cumulus think about sticking Nash Icon or Nash on Hot 106? Northern Providence County - which is Hot's signal strength - would be a good market for Country.
