Changes in DFW's LPTV market

If KHFD moves to RF 39, what would happen to the 54:XX from KAZD, even tough if KAZD tries to drop down it's digital to around 29 to 30, what will happen to it's original PISP.

I am greatly concerned about my reception of KLEE from Houston years after it signed off. And, to this very day, their PISP data still is wrong and interferes with KLIF-TV on channel 29:XX. It is disrupting my viewing of programs from both the DuMont and NTA networks. And I have frequent trouble receiving Galveston's KGUL caused by KLEE. I think a stern letter to Hoover's FRC is in order.

You're funny.

Dallasites from India have a couple of new options for OTA TV as of today. KLEG has replaced the audio+slide for HumDesi Radio on 44.3 with a full-fledged TV network, Diya TV. SAB TV is still on but has moved from 44.2 to 44.4 to make room for a new Indian network identifying itself as Swagat. Both new networks were airing music videos when I discovered them earlier this evening.

We'll have to watch for those and similar services to launch in Houston, which has a large South Asian population. We already have several radio stations targeting that market.

The Spanish-language Godcaster Almavision was off the air this weekend - channels 26.3 and 28.3 instead showed a Dish Network satellite receiver prompt. Probably just a temporary screw-up, but it could be that the Mako merry-go-round has started up again.

The alternate programming on 31.4, mostly Ozzie and Harriett every time I check it, has been running most if not all weekend. Usually "Retro TV".

MIA from one of the Mako stations in Phoenix as well. Color bars, then Dish Network prompt, and now color bars again, but the channel description still reads AlmaVis.

Isn't channel 31.4 the HOT (History Of Television) channel?

That would be "HOT" on 31.3. "Retro TV" is back on 31.4 as I type. Seems to vary with the weather.

Not so much LPTV as it is "subchannel" but I heard it through the grapevine that Fox's new Movies! channel may debut May 27th.
Not sure if it will be on 4.2 or 27.3. (My bet is 27.3)

Surprised the new Nashville Network doesn't have a home In Dallas. Especially with quite a few stations
broadcasting color bars 24/7 on subchannels.

FWIW, as of Monday Almavision was back on 26.3/28.3.

BTW, looks like Tested won the pool. (Sorry, Trip.) 27.3 showed up yesterday. (It looks like Movies! will be 27.2 and Bounce will move to 27.3.)

Got to thinking about all the subchannels we get and how many of them I actually watch. I came up with this little bit of info:

Number of subchannels I get: 89 (88 digital plus the one analog LPTV station running HOT-TV programming)
watch regularly: 7 (KDFW, KXAS, WFAA, KTVT, KDAF, KTXD, MeTV)
once in a while: 10 (Cozi, AccuWeather, KERA, PBS World, KTXA, HOT-TV, KDFI, Bounce, Antenna, KPXD)
rare: 4 (Retro TV, This TV, Biz-TV, Ion Life)
never: 68

That means I find about 25% of the subchannels available useful to me.
That might change a bit with Movies! coming online and Univision's "Get-TV" later this year.
Just curious what the viewing habits of others are around here.

Here's something from the My 27 site:

Movies! launches this Monday on digital channel 27.2
Posted: Updated:

Fox Television Stations and Weigel Broadcasting are partnering on Movies!, a film-themed subchannel launching in 17 Fox-owned markets this spring.

The network's aim is "to create a new destination for movie fans that is fan-friendly and available for free via over-the-air television, and in many cases via local cable carriage," said Fox in a statement.

Movies! will be available on Fox subchannels in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Phoenix, Tampa, Minneapolis, Orlando, Austin, Memphis and Ocala.

The films will air 24 hours a day and will appear in a 16 by 9 format. In Dallas-Fort Worth, Movies! will be seen in digital channel 27.2. Bounce TV moves to 27.3.

You will need to rescan your TV to pick up the channels.
