Changes in DFW's LPTV market

Now that the government shutdown is over and the FCC's web sites are working again, I just checked the DFW LPs. The FCC still has the licensees listed as Mako. Perhaps the sale isn't final yet, and the new owner won't show up until then.

Landover may not show on the FCC queries yet, but it looks like they're at least trying to give their stations a little more visibility. Landover (or someone unknown) is now supplying program listings to Zap2It for 31.2 and three of KHPK/28's four subchannels.

Only remaining mistakes on Zap2It are: 26.1 still shows Hot TV (should match 28.2); 28.4 not yet listed (should match 26.2); KJJM/34 not yet listed (but they have only infomercials at present); and 50.1 still shows LATV (should match 26.2). Zap2It also has incorrect listings for 47.3 (still shows Mexicanal vs. LATV) and 55.4 (still shows LATV) but those aren't ex-Mako stations.

So few incorrect listings out of over 80 channels aren't too bad, especially considering the musical chairs game Mako used to play.

The few remaining mistakes also appear in the Windows Media Center program guide since Zap2It supplies WMC guide listings. But all can be fixed (except 55.4) by manually reassigning listings from another station.
 
Looks like KLEG-CD RF/44 has been off for a few days. Another user mentioned it on AVS Forum. I have no signal here in Lewisville.
 
Confirmed. It was on the air Friday evening but has been off since Saturday evening.

Usually when I post about one of these glitches, it gets resolved right away. Here's hoping that happens again. KLEG is a Class A LPTV station and I'd hate to lose a Class A station in DFW.
 
Strange - I tuned to KLEG/44 last night and all four subchannels were coming in fine. But Bob's graph still shows no signal since last Friday :confused:
 
I've hacked the semi-new scan_tuner.pl Perl script to wedge in the calls for KLEG and KWDA since neither has a real TSID nor do those two send the calls in the data. Julesism has the diffs so his scans should start showing those two facilities as well.

After fuming over KTXD's dumping of Me-TV, I'm back to my usual mode of technical things and now KHPK is getting data uploaded. Thanks for the advisory since I totally overlooked it. We just have too many stations in this market! :)
 
Looks like Bob got his script fixed just in time for KWDA to go off the air Friday (actually, from the graph, it looks like they're still broadcasting "something" but whatever it is won't decode :confused: )
 
Due to a weakening signal at my home, I just checked Bob's and Julesism's TV signal graphs for K31GL. Both are showing a steady signal, but a few weeks ago both abruptly changed from green to red, indicating an undecodeable signal. Is this correct? The transition seems to have happened at different times on the two graphs. K31GL is very weak but still decodeable at my home.

Well, as my dad used to say, 'the more, the merrier'... so kids, if you haven't already, make room in that grid for 68.6, apparently KPXD is joining with other Ion-ers in carrying a local HSN signal. I just saw this the other day in the National board, and forgot to post here for the locals who might not know. I'm not sure what kind of future this leaves for the low-power Ch. 25 yet; I'm sure someone out there knows more than I do.

(Amazing that locals have access to both major shopping channels OTA (without getting cable/dish) -- and, on the same station.)

Rescan, rinse, repeat......

The call sign was corrected (from K31GL to K31GL-D) when the code was upgraded to the latest version.

I see. I'd bookmarked the old URLs. And now that I know to check, I have several other bookmarks showing the same symptoms.

Looks like adding the call sign suffixes invalidated a lot of my bookmarks :( But at least now I know how to fix them....

BTW, looks like K31GL-D's signal went from bad to worse about 9 PM last night

I wanted to mention a couple of new stations we've turned up. K47NT-D Mineral Wells channel 46 and K27LU-D Stephenville channel 26. They each have 5 channels including the flagship Brazos TV channel in 720p. We're hoping to produce more shows local to these communities and we include a channel showing local weather conditions as they are often in the leading path of storms approaching DFW. Although these are a stretch to reach any part of the metroplex I'd be interested in reports from anyone with reception.
 
Good to hear of some LPTV stations broadcasting in HD. I'll probably never receive either of them over here east of Dallas, but good luck!
