Changes on 96.9 WTKK

New RKO liners have a diff. voice on them and the slogan "Talk With Attitude"

("Don't be afraid to say the Pledge of Allegiance. And don't be afraid to listen to WRKO")

The round the clock traffic and weather every 10 minutes is awesome

Here is what is confusing to me. At the TOH within the legal ID they call themselves "News/Talk 96.9". But elsewhere they are still using "96.9 Boston Talks". I am not a big fan of inconsistency when it comes to station imaging. Are they replacing all production with "News/Talk 96.9" and are in the process of that or will they continue to call themselves both? Doesn't make a ton of sense to me and sends mixed messages.
:)

That would be a huge step up from WTKK's programming now

Norm: Maybe WTKK can be like Radio Circulation up in Montreal. All traffic. ALL the time!

Can't argue with that; I really can't find anyone on 96.9 to like at the moment. Meagre and Lousy? Mee-hen?
Smirk-onish? Raspy voiced, thinks he's funny Graham? Some Wall St stuff then Batchelor then Jon Grayson
(who'd briefly replaced Leveille on WBZ--and whose voice slightly sounds like him). Not quite for me.

I don't know whom WTKK could add, local or national, at the moment. The only ratings I get to see for them
are the 6 plus though maybe some newspaper articles will quote how they do in 25-54. Greater seems to be satisfied with talk--the recent domain name registrations included words like "now" leading some to wonder about a change to music, but it seems to be talk and some focus on news. Pretty sure E&B and Graham
are under contract till next year.
And yes I was having fun with the names. Some people clearly do like E&B, Graham, etc.

For local hosts maybe Howie would jump to 96.9 in 2 years. Katz and Severin are now unemployed, and I'm not sure if GM would think about hiring Jay again. For syndie several Clear Channel related hosts like Hannity,
Levin, and Beck are out there as is TRN's Laura Ingraham. None of the Salem Corp. hosts (Praeger etc.)
are on in Boston. Dial Global has has quite a few available: Bill Press, Schultz, Bohannon, Boortz (retiring soon?), Ed Schultz, Steph. Miller, and Thom Hartmann. But of course LOCAL is what's important. I think they would stay with Smerconish but maybe some of the above hosts might fit in post-Graham.

Also don't be too surprised to hear WRKO and/or WTKK--the only full-time commercial talk stations in
town, and I'm not talking about rimshotters like WDIS or the 1110 in Haverhill--put on an early evening
local show temporarily around election time. RKO did this with Joe Battenfeld. TKK could do it with
Hank Morse. Certainly there will be election night coverage--not just in Nov but also the primary in
MA on Sep 6 (a Thu due to a religious holiday).

The prog talk fans seem to be out in the cold, with only Jeff Santos' show. 1510 most likely will go NBC
sports (and maybe they'd keep carrying Santos, brokered..)
