Changes on the dial

TVJob.com is reporting the following changes in Phoenix television:

Sabra Gertsch of KSAZ (FOX10) is "on the beach"

Sarah Carlstron of KPHO (CBS 5) is "on the beach"

Steve Filmer formerly at KNXV (ABC 15) joins KPHO (CBS 5).

Re: Changes on the dial, more

A post on TVSpy also mentioned that contracts were not renewed for Jeanne (Herewirth) Rohrer and Christina Woford. If I remember correctly, Jeanne works through November and Christina through December.

Sabra was foxy, with intriguing eyes, but her voice was lacking. ' wish her well.

Sarah was a good ice skater. Seriously. She ice-skated (iceskoot?) in a live shot...did one of them pirouette thingies, real fast like. Impressive.

O.K., so Christina appears to have no personality, whatsoever, but she's pretty, competent, and doesn't have any real minuses (besides the vacant personality). Bring her back.

I believe I saw that she was an anchor/reporter for KOMO, though they have not added her to the bios page.

Her LinkedIn page: http://www.linkedin.com/ppl/webprofile?action=vmi&id=25418239&authToken=KF5V&authType=name&trk=ppro_viewmore&lnk=vw_pprofile

Their only open slot was a possible weekend female co-anchor. So, that may be the spot that she's filling. I'm going up there at Thanksgiving so I will let you know in a couple of weeks. I'll also report back on how Kim Holcomb and Rob Piercy are doing.

I'm surprised about Christina Wofford leaving. She's the longest serving anchor on KPHO. While I can see why tdfstamp thinks she doesn't have a personality, Wofford did a good job on weekdays and weekends, most of the time solo.

I will also be sorry that Christina is leaving. She seemed to be a classy person who had quite a bit of personality for a solo anchor. Hopefully, someone else here will pick her up -- but somehow I doubt it.

Christina will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with her at one time.
She came across as a solid anchor and reporter with a great sense of humor.
If she end's up "going across the street", it will be KPNX, KTVK, KNXV or KSAZ gain and KPHO loss.

Brian4, you made a comment of longest serving anchor being Christina at KPHO.
I remember Diana being hired before Christina, but let go before Christina.
I'm not claiming to be right and not claiming that you're wrong.
Your comment made me curious.

With that said, who was the longest serving anchor at KPHO, in it's history?

Sabra was spotted on KOMO in Seattle this past weekend. I'm not sure which slot, presumably weekend mornings. This would mean that the previous weekend am anchor is probably switching to weekend pm's.

I know she's not an anchor, but Donna Rossi's been there for-freakin-ever. She's good, too. Maybe it's the "former cop" access that makes her more valuable than the average reporter?

BTW, no disrespect to Christina, I really do like her. She's pleasant, she smiles,...it just feels like she does the "detached newsperson" thing really well. :)

I liked Christina also and am sorry to see her go. Perhaps she was too serious and good to be in the am, where the chatty bubbleheads rule. (Okay, as we know, there are plenty in the Phoenix pm too.) Maybe she would have done better for the station in a later slot. Who knows? If I remember correctly, she was from the D/FtW area originally and it wouldn't surprise me that she will try to get back to TX.

I don't see her landing at KTVK or KNXV but if she did, it would bring up their class level significantly. (Ain't gonna happen!)

Christina could make 3TV News at 9 watchable!!! Bev is a horrible solo anchor -- talk about NOT being fun.;D

Chirstina is much too serious for ABC15! OMG, they would have to demote Katie Raml.

Please let me clarify: when I first moved to Phoenix in 2000, I watched KPHO news. Since then, looking at anchors only, Wofford is the only one still there from the early 00's. Honestly, Chris Coraggio arrived in 1998 but I wasn't counting his total time but anchor time.

Emphasize mine
Donna Rossi's longevity at KPHO falls short of Diane Ryan's run at KOOL (just barely (?) ), then KTSP and finally KSAZ.

Correction: Sabra is co-anchoring the weekend evening newscasts at KOMO in Seattle. Early reports say that she was "great". Good for Sabra -- moving up to weekend evening anchor in a similar-sized market!! :)

My guess would be either Roger Downey or Larry Martel.

Ken Coy maybe?

What about their longtime ND Tom Sherlock--didn't he also anchor at one time?

I know, this is getting back to the "relative hum-a-ditty"..."and that brings us
right up to date on the news"...and red tie days. (No, not loud red jacket on
Christmas Eve, but red tie every night.)
