changes on the northshore

smooth jazz on 104.7 is now northshore 104.7 playing oldies from the 60s-70s.
i cant confirm but it apperars tangi has flipped at the same time to classic rock or classic hits. i listened for 30 minutes and never even heard a liner. but all the songs could have been classic rock or classic hits.

edit : (since i cant modify my original post)

tangi 96.5 is indeed still oldies. tonight they sound like a pure oldies station. at 7:30 they sounded like a classic rock station. i guess they are AOR. all over the road ;D

but heres a question. why 2 oldies station in basically the same area? i dont get that. just like they have 2 country stations in brookhaven ms? k106 and b92.1.

Patterns of Tangi and 104.7 are different...

Most of the main signal for Tangi 96.5 is aimed at Tangipohoa Parish mainly centered around the center part of the parish http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WTGG&service=FM&status=L&hours=U

Most of 104.7 is centered on St. Tammany in the rural parts and in Washington parish where a oldies based format will do a lot better than Smooth Jazz IMO

Most people don't like noise in their music.. Hince, even though you can catch both of them, most won't listen to 104.7 at your location due to the noise coming in on the signal at times.

Also even though they are going after the same demo, they are doing it in technically two different markets.. hince the duplication IMO

On the K106 and 92.1 issue... They have just apparently taken over within the last week or two officially as they just filed the ownership report within the past week with the FCC (usually done right after a consumation)

Now I'm just wondering what will happen with 94.9 on the southshore here.. if it will flip or not?
