Changes to 1160 and 1200

On New Year's Day (tomorrow as I type this), Spanish-language station WKDA will give way to standards/big band stalwart WAMB on 1200 kHz, and WAMB's old 1160 kHz frequency will at last become home to Bott Radio Network's latest Christian information station, WCRT (whose call letters, given Bott's preference for calls connected with a slogan, probably mean Christian Radio for Tennessee).

Also, since the 1200 kHz operation is still daytime-only, WAMB's programming, according to the station's website (<a target="_blank" href=http://wamb.net>http://wamb.net</a>), will air at night on 900 WCOR Lebanon (owned by Bill Barry's stepdaughter) until WAMB gets a license to cover its construction permit to add a 90-watt, directional nighttime operation on 1200.<P ID="signature">______________

And the heritage calls of WKDA pass away quietly...

May they rest in peace...

At 6:AM they haven't changed yet. I'm surprised thatthey haven't been telling their audience to tune in to 1200 at whatever time they will change. The AM stereo really sounds good. I wonder if 1200 will be in stereo after the change? Their night time programming probably will be on WCOR.

Who keeps the 98.7 translator for "Cuban interference protection"?
The FCC allowed it due to "Cuban interference" on 1160, but Bill Barry
probably will find some magic way to keep it!<P ID="signature">______________
but wait...there's more!</P>

Their AM stereo always did sound good. I listened to it on an old receiver I found at Goodwill!

As of 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 3, WAMB is still broadcasting from 1160 AM and 1200 AM is broadcasting in Spanish.

Re: R.I.P.

Wait until the 10th about then, I think.

WAMB is simulcasting on 1490 in Lebanon as of now.

I noticed over the weekend the WAMB audio now on 1200, along with 1160 (which kept dropping off the air for brief periods)

Re: R.I.P.

We had this discussion several months back, but if I were Cumulus I would jump ALL OVER the WKDA calls for 97.1. It worked for 96.3 when they moved to WMAK. It's worth a shot-- although I expect the fine people in 'crime free Rutledge Hill' might object to the acquisition of those calls.

Anybody on hear able to drop a little hint to the execs at Cumulus??
