I just looked on the fcc website and saw that KNID 99.7 has applied to move into the market via Mustang and WWLS got a CP to move to 98.1.

Yup.. Old news...

98.1 will be happening pretty soon from what I hear. They'll be going to the big new stick that doesn't work right that KYIS, KOMA, KRXO, KMGL and soon to be KATT transmits from. Kitty KATT will donate a kidney to their brother WWLS so both of them will be up on the big stick as a C something, but the KATT won't be a super C anymore after the big change.

Why does KATT have to be neutered to allow the power increase of WWLS-FM? I'm gonna miss hearing KATT in Lawton on a clear warm night in my Jeep. Lower power could wind up being a foolish move for Citadel in the future if the OKC metro grows.

Well KATT will be broadcasting from 1,800 feet on a high gain antenne just as 98.1 will be at the ERP level 32,000 watts. another words OKC will never notice thee downgrade and will notice the upgrade for 98.1

With that being said though, that GAIN antenna has really too much gain and not enough TPO out of the transmitters so in OKC there are plenty of places where there's nulls closer into the tower. Honestly I bet that guy in Lawton will enjoy the move up the tower more than the OKC folks with less than ideal radios in closer.

I, for one, would be afraid of having some coverage issues on a lower powered station on that funky stick.

If you mean 98.1 then yes.. I belive that's why they did the flip-flop with Wild earlier on in the game. LB and the gang have a lot more use for WWLS than Wild so WWLS will get the biggest stick.

Actually, the reason they switched the signals was because they couldn't put 104.9 into the trust and have it still simulcast 640. However, I agree that The Sports Animal is likely to remain on FM.

You're right in that respect. They didn't want to have WWLS loose the FM or split it up, etc. The reason 104.9 is the one that went into the "trust" is because it's the lesser of the two signals in that it's not improveable. They COULD have put 97.9 in the "trust", however, they knew it was upgradeable if they could get all the other stations required for the upgrade to tapdance just right. Appearently that has happened and they're getting close to cranking that puppy up in frequency one notch and substantially more power/height.

Does anyone know if and when 104.9 and 105.3 will be sold? And after they are sold, what will become of the current formats?

Basically, they'll be sold as soon as Citadel can find a buyer for the stations. So far, Citadel has only sold one station that was put into trust. Rumor is they're asking an unbelieveable price.

As for what will become of Wild 104.9 and La Indomable, that will depend on who the new owner is and what their mission is.

LOL!!!! The Last Bastard Trust (TRUST, funny term for a co. like CIT!) is just a way to muse the FCC until they change the rules and let them own that many stations. As long as they offer it for sale but keep asking too much for the properties they can keep it around until that happens.

Second verse, same as the first....

LOL

Keep in mind that Citadel can't keep those properties in trust forever. Since the FCC isn't changing radio rules anytime soon, they're almost sure to be sold. Now, Clear Channel has some stations in various markets that could possibly be moved out and later sold back, but the same can't be said for most of those Citadel stations.
