Changes to KTAR News Lineup 2/5/2024

Updated KTAR weekday primetime lineup beginning Monday, February 5:

5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Arizona’s Morning News
8 a.m. to noon: The Mike Broomhead Show
Noon to 2 p.m.: The Ramsey Show
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Chris Merrill and Joe Huizenga
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Bruce St. James and Larry Gaydos
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: The Chad Benson Show

"With Benson leaving the afternoon show, his Radio America syndicated show moves up from 9pm to 12am to 7-10pm.
Leaving the lineup are the 6pm hour “Arizona Evening News” hosted by Becky Lynn and the 7-9pm replay of the Dave Ramsey Show."

I don't know how they can keep airing Ramsey, he is a really weird guy, and every show is exactly the same. Hillbillies who are in debt call in wondering if they can afford a new 4x4. Dave says no, and tells them to be good christians. Happy to see Bruce back, but, I can't take Gaydos (or Chad). The real issue is 4 hours Broomhead? Who listens to that uneducated angry clown?

Needless to say, Bonneville nixed any coverage of Ramsey's HR issues vis a vis his employees with child. "Good Christians"? Ha-!

Amazing. I guess someone finally looked at the ratings.

Dr. Akbar loves beans & rice.
Shirley, you jest.

You'd think hiring co-host #3 for PMD, the problem might be Gaydos? Silly and stupid, but the Nurse and I figure that's what they want. And with Bruce St James, the Starbucks near 16th & Northern will be busy satisfying his need for caffeine to sustain his fast paced delivery.

Bruce Merrill? Didn't exactly move the needle at KFYI, and like Barry Markson, Merrill uses 50 words when 5 would suffice. Yawn.

The good news is they're deep sixing the 6pm news block. C'mon now, this aint last century when afternoon newspapers were in vogue and talk hosts wanted to know if it was raining where you are. And speaking of other things that need to go...put the expanded 15 minute newscasts at 8am,12N and 5pm on the chopping block. KTAR aint no NPR station, and do they really think anyone cares about a commercial free expanded newscast?

Now excuse me as I hop in the '76 Gremlin to deliver pizzas to the Old Gringo's Hut. He's a big tipper, I've heard.

Agree 100%, especially when it's the same exact stories being re-played (and through the weekend in some cases, since their newsroom closes end of the day on Fridays.)

Why can't weekend local talk be brought back? Can Loveable Jay be coaxed back?

Pleasantly surprised at how much I'm digging the afternoon show - perhaps it has something to do with bringing back listener calls. Gee, who would have thought that sticking to your format would make for good radio?
