So Whats the word any Changes at Cumulus here?
Is the Format wheel spinning any where?
any info to share?
come on lets get this board going

Fall in NM always comes with a change in Cumulas pattern, might even get a little rain too.

I heard "a Cumulus Station" as part of the top of the hour ID on 93.3. Otherwise, its mighty quiet. I read elsewhere on the board they have outlawed wearing blue jeans at all their stations. I guess they don't want me working there. Okay by me...

I'm thinkin' that the new Cumulus group forbids any posting on radio boards such as this one. They are a little bit paranoid over there. And, don't dare to wear jeans to work. Oh boy oh boy. It's a fun environment.

Actually, I understand that Cumulus has indeed forbade posting on boards like this one. And, no one but Cumulus Corporate may be interviewed by the trades. And both rules are probably good ones.

Change be cummin soon in da 505.........not necessarily Cumulus.

I hear the format wheel will be sping somewhere on Friday....Where oh where could it be?

you got to whip it,whip it goooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

It wasn't all that difficult to predict that ABQ did not need another Christian boradcaster (particularly looking down at the non-comm end of the dial - I count 5).

I am not sure though that Spanish language is the answer either. ABQ is not LA.

The % of Hispanic in Abq vs LA is virtually the same...the only reason Chavez, lost is because Romero ran, Chuck Berry won by default, so even the mayorial situation would have been the same. And now thow in Susanna, Abq are passing Cali in that Demo, pct wise, not total population, if I read the data correctly. Alot of the Hispanics have been listed under White , when the category other was deleted from the form..there was an article in the Journal just last week about a sharp jump in the The "white" category, due to that reason....like George Lopez said "We were better off, when we were Other".

Walk into any business in Abq and virtually every piece of mail you receive and they are in both English and Spanish..wake up and smell the Tortillas..they are here

FREE RADIO listening in the car,is the new norm as the economy continues to reinvent itself.

The peasant class listener has been joined by the vanishing middle class.

Over the air listenership will grow regardless of duplicated programming.

Reason is simple,ITS FREE.

While this is true, LA has roughly double the percentage of Spanish-dominant Hispanics. Speaking Spanish is not a precondition of being Hispanic, and many of the Hispanics in Albuquerque trace their ancestry back to Mexico by means of having family born in New Mexico when it was still a part of Mexico roughly 200 years ago.

I'm not quite sure I understand this sentence. However, are you aware that state law in New Mexico requires all government documents to be printed in both English and Spanish and has since it became a state in 1912? It's the only state that has such a law, unless another one has adopted it within the last 10 years or so. I don't think that's happened, but I suppose it's possible. While Albuquerque and New Mexico definitely have Spanish-dominant residents, it's not as large as the numbers make it look, and the reason you see so many English and Spanish documents in New Mexico businesses might be bureaucratic rather than free market.

whoa, kent..my comment was in response to the statement by KHJ6U, that the number of Spanish speaking people in Abq, didn't justify another Spanish station, the population numbers speak for theselves... ..Secondly Hispanic is not a race, my comments of the ethnic make-up of the politicians again, was meant to point out that Abq has a large Hispanic population as San Antonio, LA , Denver, and like them is being reflected by the make-up of the elected officials....Whether there is a law as you say about both English and Spanish, I don't know, Ill take your word for it...as far as the bilingual advertising being bureaucratic vs commercial...well you certainly missed the boat there..it is 1,000% commercial and has nothing to do with a law...... I don't know where you were going with the roots thing,,,,but it's actually the opposite..a large majority of New Mexicans actually prefer to attempt to trace their roots to Spain rather than Mexico, because they are ashamed to be classified Mexican..Again I refer to a George Lopez comment.."Yeah, yeah,,both your parents are from Mexico, but you're Spanish"
And finally if you believe that they are not here in the numbers that the statistics claim..you need to watch an old Star Trek episode "The Trouble With Tribble"...addios amigo....

Time to post a clarification.

What I have discovered is that while there are a lot of Hispanic surnamed people in ABQ, most of them speak better English than I do. So I don't see a big audience for Spanah speaking radio in ABQ

That, as opposed to LA, where there is a much much larger Spanish only population.
