Channel 2/New Theme Music?

True. I wonder when the start date is, and if other changes will come:

1) With over 900 cuts, it sounds like WSB-TV will start doing opens for their segments (only the weather gets a segment open now). As far as I know, WSB-TV has never (at least in the past few years) had a music package that has segmented cuts.

2) New announcer. There is a different announcer that does the "It starts with a..." promos.

3) New graphics. They have been using the same font since 1994 (when the revamped WSB-TV logo was introduced). They need to exorcise the "DT" out of the graphics.

615 did a custom package for WAGA (Magnum, used 1998-2007) and for WXIA (Alive, version 1 from 1999-2002 and version 2 from 2002-2006). Both stations use their respective O&O tunes now.

I listened to the montage. It sounds like it could be a great package. I know it's been around forever, but I'll miss their current/soon-to-be-ex theme. You hear it and without even looking at the set you know you've got Channel 2.

But then, I wish 11Alive still used the old Hello Georgia campaign from the 80s...

My favorite Atlanta news theme was the first 11 Alive theme. I was a teenager and remember it made the news seem exciting. Here is a montage of the Atlanta news intros from the mid-70s. The 11 Alive them is the last one. The window camera shot and the moving graphics added to the excitment... showing my age... there was no other moving graphics on local TV at that time.

ClarkKent mentioned Hello Georgia (briefly known as Hello Atlanta). I loved Hello Georgia. Here is what was before Hello Georgia:

So far, the most complete history of news themes used in Atlanta complete with audio clips is below.

They are aleady using the new music as they go to commercials and for "Coming up at 11" spots.

They are now using the new music for everything, including opens (which is the same "WSB-TV-DT" open used since the HD upgrade in 2006), thus ending 11 years of "News 2000". Graphics are still the same.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I like this new music package. The graphics and sound just do not mesh well. It's a cutting-edge, fast-paced news theme with some really old school graphics. Are we sure their not releasing a new graphics package soon?

At the risk of reviving an old topic... a small bit of the News 2000 music is still used on WSB-TV's radio spots on WSB-AM.

Blink and you might miss hearing it.

fwiw, etc.
