Channel 23 signal in Western Suburbs

I live on Downers Grove and for the last week, Channel 23's signal has been as good as the full powered stations. It is truly a Grade "A" signal. New antenna?

I don't know, but I can tell you it's the opposite in NW Indiana where the signal used to be great. The picture is that bad that I'm unable to watch 23, and don't try.

Same as always here (Wisconsin)

Indoor Antenna/Rabbit Ears: Watchable with static. Good enough to sit down and watch. I can't get 2 or 5 at all with an indoor antenna so thats pretty good.

Outdoor Antenna: Clear and watchable. Some static here and there.<P ID="signature">______________

I know they removed the beam tilt some time back.. Could that have anything to do with it?

I can't get them where I'm at since I'm in Rockford and we have WIFR (licensed to Freeport but transmitter in Rockford) here.

The analog signal on 23 is pretty good 33 miles south of the Loop in Monee.

You might have better luck with a digital tuner. Wal-Mart is supposedly selling "Fifth Generation Chip" units in small quantities at a few stores for around $100, although they never stocked DTV tuners at the Matteson IL or Bradley IL stores near me.

I have a digital tuner (with the 4th Gen chip) that picks up Ch23 WWME-CA on 26-2, as well as Ch48 WFBT-CA on 26-3. Of course, finding an antenna location where WCIU-DT Ch27 is "locked" can be tricky depending on your location, but once you do the picture quality is perfect.

FYI, DTV tuners with the 5th Gen chip supposedly deal with multipath situations far better than prior units. I've read reports that they work much better in severe multipath conditions, where the equivalent analog signal is plagued with ghosting.

Im off of fairview and seems pretty good with my silver sensor. Nothing to brag about though. Downers grove isn't that far away from the loop. shouldn't be that hard with a good outdoor antenna.

Trying to get in wciu's digital signal in the past week or so seems impossible. Everything else is full signal. Except them.. When it does come in, it's full too. I don't know...
