Channel 36 In Denver?

JeeperOne

Banned
Just did a rescan of receivable channels after getting an antenna to enhance my OTA reception (Ya know just in case some punk kid decides to rip out a bunch of cables in the apartment building cable box or something ;D ) & stumbled across a channel 36 in Analog format. It's a snowy, noisy picture that's not watchable however I was able to make out the Univision logo during one of their program promos

Does KCEC 50 has a translator on that channel or something?

Just curious as to what I stumbled across & where the signal might be coming from.....

Cheers & 73 :D

[hijack]My local Univision translator on 47 just went ATSC early last year. In NTSC mode it was barely watchable. For supposedly being a "low-power" station in the West Hills, it now hits me at about 96-98% tops on the Pansat. Meanwhile, I barely can get the majority of my supposedly "full-power" ATSC locals to come in half the time.

*shrug* Figures.[/hijack]

KDVT-LP, Denver. 31.4kw from a tower among the Denver tower farm. (**I think** it's the same tower as FM stations 93.3/95.7/103.5/106.7, although the west latitude differs by 2 seconds) LPTVs are allowed to remain in analog until the fall of 2015 -- this one has not yet applied to convert to digital.

My information is this station is carrying Telefutura, parallel to KTFD-DT channel 14. However, Telefutura & Univision are co-owned & I would expect some cross-promotion. (I might also note Telefutura is changing its name to "UniMAS" on Monday)

Interesting. It was a pretty powerful signal (93kw) in analog. The analog signal came from the same site, although I think they may have changed antennas. (the antenna height increased 90cm -- about a yard -- it's possible that was just the result of re-surveying the tower though)

Unless it was a local commercial break aired on KTFD 14 for a program aired on sister station KCEC 50 (Hence the Univision logo I saw), I think it has to be a translator for KCEC instead

Cheers & 73 ;D

My information is that there are six stations authorized to operate in analog on channel 36 in Colorado. Two of them have permits to switch to digital operation & may have already done so. None carry Univision.

I think it's most likely you did in fact see a promotion for a program airing on KTFD's sister station KCEC. Also possible (though IMHO less likely): that the owners have decided to have KDVT relay KCEC instead of KTFD. Either way, I think it's FAR more likely this station is KDVT than that it's anything else.

*K36AF, New Castle (39-33-56N/107-31-57W); relays KRDO channel 13 (Colorado Springs)
K36BR, Fraser (39-51-45N/105-46-20W); relays KWGN channel 2
K36HS, Salida (38-26-50N/106-00-38W); programming unknown
KDVT-LP, Denver
KXHD-LP, Montrose (38-18-55N/108-11-45W); relays KUSA channel 9
*KZFC-LP, Windsor (40-38-31N/104-49-03W); Azteca America (a Spanish-language network *not* related to Univision)

* These two stations have permits to convert to digital & may have already done so.

Except for KDVT-LP here in Denver, none of those fit Doug as this station looks to be more like a translator for either KTFD 14 (TeleFutura) or sister station KCEC 50 (Univision) as indicated by others earlier because I clearly saw the Univision logo in the program promo I saw on Channel 36 (The picture was clear enough to see that much)

Plus, there's no mistaking the font & style Univision uses to spell Noticias either. Most unique

Cheers & 73 ;D

Telefutura runs Univision news and the Univision logo is often seen in other programming, especially sports.

I've also been thinking that the LP might also be set up to relay KTFD-DT 14.2 for those who can't get the MundoFOX network any other way & there may have been a little cross-promotion during a local (??) commercial break too similiar to what KDVR does on KWGN-DT 2.2 (And vice-versa) in English

Cheers & 73 ;D

That would make sense perhaps if MundoFox was carried on KTFD. It is not.

Let me give you a link that you might find informative. http://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?mktid=25 Click the call sign to see the subchannels. This will hopefully enlighten you about your local television stations.
