Channel 39 back on DirecTv

I bet they got quite a few complaints for dropping CH.39 in the first place.

Since DirecTV is doing the yearly price increases as well, they couldn't act any worse than cable - cable companies don't drop PBS stations.

Worse was their attitude from their feedback of "not having plans to carry it" anymore, "losing the rights to carry it" - as if WLVT wanted to be pulled, or the "space was reallocated".

Granted, it's a good thing DirecTV came to senses, and restored the signal.

Why was it not on?
How long was it not on?
Why was it put back?

WLVT didn't properly submit their mandatory must-carry election, at the expected period. Ditto with WWSI 62 (Telemundo).

At that point, DirecTV felt both channels are not essential to keep: A national Telemundo feed is available in their Spanish package, and WHYY 12 is the primary PBS station -- 39 was superfluous according to DirecTV's decision making at the time.

WMCN-DT was dropped. It has no must-carry rights on Dish Network or DirecTV, as digital-only stations aren't permitted must-carry protection (as of yet).

WTVE-51, a must-carry, finally provided their picture to both DirecTV and Dish Network.

WLVT was not on, for 2 month or so. Just recently it was restored.
