Channel 4 Reports: WRKO Will Not Rehire John DePetro

C

Casablanca

Guest
Channel 4 reported at 6 tonight that it will not reconsider hiring back John DePetro. The video clip showed DePetro in his lawyer's office and DePetro mentioned that what he said was not against any FCC regulation. He also mentioned the firing of his engineer, Jim Keisling (sp) not "Cooke [ another Nancy Shack aka 'Sandi" pseudonym ?]

No one from WRKO was on camera unless they were so small the camera didn't see them....

duh.

coulda seen this coming a mile off. did depetro and mr. bellotti really expect anything from this? depetro seems to be waiting for the groundswell of support that just doesn't seem to be there. he's no jerry williams, gene burns or david brudnoy.

i hope he goes back to providence, where he seems to have legitimate support.

Which clears the way for him to go to WTKK, WHJJ, or even Air America Boston as a token conservative.
WRKO doesn't want to ruffle any feathers with advertisers, the Sox, etc.

JD did have some names of people on the petition to bring him back but apparently that won't make
a difference, at least not at 'RKO.

Arnie Arnissen. Get the No-Dose. RKO tried her out before. She's okay in small segments but not daily. If they really wanted to shake up RKO they would bring back Margery Clapprood...without Whitley who is out to lunch...or is it dinner. ;)

Arnesen is intoloerable. Not cause she's a lib - she just has no idea how to entertain.

Deborah "Arnie" Arnesen might appeal to some core listeners of a certain political stripe, but not sure how
big that audience would be. It didn't help her that in her NH show she referred to SUVs as "FUVs"--and
car dealers were a major sponsor, oops!

DePetro's health insurance runs out at end of month and he's family's sole breadwinner...he probably will
catch on elsewhere (would WTKK take a chance? He would be welcomed back in Prov, WHJJ maybe,
I'd think.) btw Herald reported the other day that he was to be on Ch 4's election night coverage but
the remark/firing squashed that

By the way among the 285 or so names on the Bring Back Depetro petition (depetro.com) are some
joke entries by "Gerry Williams", "Cowie Harr", "Wason Jolfe", "Mott Allen Sciller", and a certain "former
TV Sports Guy" who says "Did you hear that voicemail I left for Ryen R? Bwa-ha-ha-ha. I am teflon, cause I have the ratings. "

285 names! Wow. WERS has more listeners on an off day.

That is pretty bad. I'm not going to mention the names of two Boston "radio hosts" who were fired in the past couple of years, but their self-importance seems limited to (or in their mind, validated by) their MySpace accounts. The public just did not buy into their personas. What these people don't realize is - just because
they got up to the plate doesn't mean they had talent. They struck out, failed to hit the home run.

And it's not like poor Ken Shelton who was a Carl Yastrzemski in his day that didn't have it in the end.
These three personalities discussed here never hit the home run. Ever.

They were chosen usually by one person with an agenda. The agenda should be: a)to please the audience b)to generate income because you've pleased the audience.

Business being business, Program Directors seek to put the cart before the horse trying to please advertisers before audience (y'know, the people with the pocketbooks who buy advertisers products). The result?
You get DePetro, Kentuckybob and the rest.

Like I said, what's the difference between Paul Sullivan and Todd Feinburg. It's a rhetorical question starting with the word talent. The former has it, the latter couldn't find it if it were written on the mic in front of his face. 285 votes, mostly jokes. So much for DePetro's popularity. If he's the breadwinner, he'd better take a long hard look in the mirror (or in the aircheck room). Anti-gay jokes at the expense of modern day families (gay people) cost DePetro his gig. Deservedly so. Now maybe WRKO will find some talent instead of these low-grade shills.

Now JD's site has a pic of Al Pacino (as Scarface?) under the words "Say hello to the bad guy" (?)...and he
uses the slogan Together We Can (get him back on the air, I assume he means). Gee those three words
sound familiar...?

"Can I get a pic of me shaking your hand Mr. President?"

"Gonna cost ya 10 bucks."

"Sounds fine to me."

that picture of DePetro and Bush - if that's not the cure for homosexuality, I don't know what is.

Talk about unattractive.

C'mon now, everyone is beautiful...
*--looking to find a pic of DePetro shaking hands with the lovely Helen Thomas--*

I do know that John's site, if you look around, has pics of him posing with Bill Clinton, Bob Kraft,
Bill O'Reilly, Terry Francona, Don Imus, Janet Reno, Steve Van Zandt, James Carville...

All those men are the equivalent (looks-wise) of Janet Reno. No offense to our Democratic leaders, Reno included, but Raccoon - would you date Janet Reno?

Let's Not Kick John DePetro While He is Down

Let's not kick John while he is down. He didn't do anything but what Julie Kahn and the wolfe man asked him to do.

My real concern is for his engineer/ producer Jim Kiesling ( heard John call him by his real name and not sure how it is spelled). He really is a scapegoat- something with which this poster is all too familiar.

One thing I am sure both John DePetro and Jim Kiesling have discovered over this past week is is who their friends really are and are not. Bet it came as a surprise on both accounts.

There are a lot of users in this world and a few friends. Times like these make the two clear.
