Channel 48

I have cable so I rarely get a chance to watch off air TV. I hooked up my indoor antenna and watched a bit of Lucy on WWME. Good channel. I should watch it more often.

I went scrolling through the channels and noticed a channel 48 running test pattern with dead air coming out of the speaker. Does the Chicago 48 run test pattern overnight? I'm trying to figure out what this was. There wasn't much TV DX going on except for the usual WSJV out of South Bend mixing in with WOCH-LP.

I was unaware that 48 signed off at all. I could swear I've seen programming on that signal in the middle of the night. I could be wrong, though. With all the LPs, CAs, and general DX lately it's hard to keep it all straight!

<font color=3333ff>I saw a test pattern on 48 a few months ago. At first I thought it was 49 from a dx a loooooooong time ago.. but then realized it was 48. I thought Hmmmmmmm.

48 almost never comes in clear in NW Indiana. I'm wondering if Weigel was having problems with their signal reaching the areas that the signal was supposed to go that they took it off the air to correct it. The way the coverage area was drawn up by the FCC, the station doesn't effectively cover the targeted demo for the various ethnic programs, especially the Polish people. I'm sure there are those who miss their Polvision programming that used to air on 23.

>>Just my guess.
