Channel 5 Breathlessly talks about the Earthquake!

Some idiot named Jeff Butera talks about the earthquake, on location, but its in Phoenix where we didn't feel it, ok, that makes no sense.

Then he uses a prop! He holds up a kitchen clock and exclaims about how its "time" (get it) for an earthquake or something, I was too busy laughing.

Then Kent and the bimbette de jour talked about chihuahua's and pregnant women and cell phones. And a fascinating report on non drowning lessons for kids, and how its some kind of scandal or something. ::)

Its good that there is something out there that makes "US" magazine seem scholarly by comparison.

(earlier, I tuned into KTLA, they covered the earthquake in a fairly professional way, showing damage, and interviewing folk who were in tall buildings...not award winning, but they didn't see the need to hold up a clock and use it as a prop_)

...I caught much of the KTLA coverage as well, and still can't get over how solid an anchor Sam Rubin (of all people) turned out to be...

I quit watching local Phoenix TV news years ago but still manage to guffaw at their news teasers ("It's back to school week - are mechanical pencils a safety hazard to your child? Coming up at 10 the whole story!!!!".

Channels 5 and 10 seem to be the most moronic.

Don't forget the restaurant health inspection segment where Jason Berry spends most of his time in what looks to be Channel 5's breakroom/kitchen! Boy, I bet that's a time-consuming segment!

What about the latest insipid Cooney, Curtis, and You commercials? Does 12 just try to insult your intelligence? What about 12's VJ's -- most of whom graduated from college last week and can barely utter a coherent sentence?

Oh yes, Channel 3 spend 12 minutes on the "helicopter" crash memorial last Saturday. Look, I know it's tramautic for all of you and we're sorry for your loss. However, there are other pressing stories out there now.

C'mon now, I love those Dirty Dining segments! Especially where he uses the plastic cockroach props! :D

And what was up with that fish last night? ???

The best thing on 5 is "The Enforcer" theme music!!!

It's been my favorite since I heard it on WCBS back in the 80's. Oh, those were the days...(Enforcer Theme blaring)..."This is the Channel 2 News with Jim Jensen, Carol Martin, Warner Wolf, and Dr. Frank Field...All the news you need to know because anything can happen in New York!"

Ah, but what about those strains of "The Enforcer" in their WeatherNow music on 5.2?

Breakroom is when you see the pop/snack machines.
Kitchen is just off the executive conference room.

Jason does a good job. His enthusiasm comes across.

His props are great.
