CHANNEL 5 OFF THE AIR

Anyone know what's going on with WNYW Fox 5? Their main digital signal has been off the air all day today (Saturday), since at least 6am. Channel 5 programming can be seen on WWOR's "5.2" subchannel, and also on my cable. It's rare for a major TV station to simply not be on the air.

OTA will be dead very soon. I am keeping an eye on stations going dark to "sour the milk".

Why pay for tower space if you don't need to?

Thank the FCC for killing OTA.

Have you checked WNYW's website? There's a programming alert there.

Transmitter failure.
SD signal was still broadcast on WWOR-TV's digital subchannel.

They are co-owned.

It is a "vestige" of September 11, 2001.

On that day, they simuled of each other's x.2.

Any other market that would sound cool. (simulcasting). But since NYC is one location, now, it doesn't. Though, it makes sense for uninteruption for the engineers when it come to making adjustments with very little inconvenience to the viewer.
