Channel 56?

I first seen this at the Cleveland, AVS forum yesterday, so I'll copy and paste what I posted there. "I'm getting this here too near W150/Puritas, 56.1, no subchannels, no audio, I must be on the fringe as it comes and goes. I thought Channel 56 was in Detroit? But then don't know if that's just PSIP in Detroit now. The info button said there is no info available for this channel. Maybe WLFM's new digital channel (LOL), remember they had the WD logo on analog 6 when they were testing it. Image below taken by cell phone, some of the trim of the TV is showing as well as the TV's lit Vizio logo." The Dish logo is actually white, not bluish as my cell phone took it. (I think the OP is in Lake or Geauga County).

RF channel 56 is no longer part of the broadcast TV spectrum. What's being seen in Cleveland and elsewhere is one of the new users of that spectrum, Echostar (aka Dish Network), which purchased a bunch of the former channel 56 spectrum around the country at auction.

Some info from Trip: http://www.rabbitears.info/blog/index.php?post/2013/05/15/Echostar-Expands-Channel-56

This is, of course, something different from the remaining virtual "channel 56" facilities such as WTVS, all of which now operate on the remaining broadcast TV spectrum on RF channels 51 or below.

Thanks Scott. Do you know if that is just a promotional logo right now, or is there more behind it, such the actual mobile sub-channels that are there too but needs a mobile device to receive? I assume need to be a Dish subscriber anyways.

There are apparently subchannels there, but nothing that's in the clear. Nor is it clear yet that Dish is actually selling subscriptions to these services...just testing.

OK, kinda what I figured. Then again, even if receivable on a regular TV would prolly look pretty crappy on the big screen given the very low resolution of those channels.
