Channel 6 in Newfoundland

nd2023

The other day, there was e-skip and I first noticed it when I could not hear Pulse 87, and I heard a TV station audio instead on 87.7. The usually static-free Pulse 87 was obliterated by the e-skip station. I heard a weather forecast predicting highs around 17 degrees, so I assume it's in Celsius and it's from Canada. Then I heard an ad that mentioned central Newfoundland.
I had FMs from Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama and Minnesota/Wisconsin, and a few French-speaking FMs, all at the same time.

There are three TV stations on channel 6 in Newfoundland:

CBNAT-4 St. Anthony (13kw)
CBYT-5 St. Andrew's (1kw)
CJON-TV St. John's (213kw)

(yes, CJON-TV is more than twice as powerful as the most powerful channel 6 station in the U.S.)

I don't think there's any way to tell which one you had.

That's a great catch!
I've never had e-skip to the northeast before, it's usually to the south and west of me. And I'd never be able to know if there's e-skip to the southeast because that's all water.
Newfoundland, my location, and New Orleans are in a straight line. I wonder if anyone got double hop e-skip Friday evening.
I guess that the most powerful channel 6 made it, so I'll log CJON.
I figure that it was an affiliate of a Canadian TV network, don't think it was CBC.

I Got FM Eskip From Newfoundland. I Got K-Rock 97.5, 102.3, And 103.9 And I Got OZ FM On Various Frequencys And Like A Local On 94.7. The Video Clips Are On www.youtube.com/user/chrisradioanimal. I Also Picked Up Radio Stations From Other Parts Of Canada As Well As A Couple From States Down South. I Was In New Hampshire At The Time The E-Skip Happened.
