Channel 7

Hi everyone:

Is it just me or is Bobby Ocean THE ONLY DJ ever heard on XM Ch. 7 ?? I listen via Winamp and am not listening in at all hours like a lot of people, but he's THE ONLY DJ I've ever heard on that channel and seems like he's like the only one they have.

Am I imagining things?

Cheers for now :)

considering I don't listen to 70's on 7 that much, it could be possible. the loft / channel 50 has mike marrone and kate bradley. my guess would be a live shift of 5-6 hours, and a couple hours to voice-track the rest (in the case of 'the loft'). Programmers would do the rest.

70's on 7 could be based more on who's programming then the live DJ. Bobby would be dead tired after 18 hours on the air. ;1

PD Kurt Gilchrist used to do an occasional shift, but hasn't in a while. Sari Zalesin (sp?), who was heard much more often, left XM a few months ago and wasn't replaced. Apparently, XM is content to program Channel 7 with a bland, jukebox-like approach.

I've noticed or thought it was me only, but yes compared to the 60's or 90's channel...the 70's has been lame. Not that it's run professionally. It just seems nobody cares to put any elbow grease into it like they do with 60's.
It sounds like it's programmed to whatever comes up next on the pile of records, just play it.

No special programs like saluting the 70's FM station of the week, or sounding like an image of an old 70's station. Or the top 7 hits on 7 of the week 1 year ago today
or no 70's anthology. They need to get announcers that sounded like the hyped top 40 of their decade. Just no interesting features or what really went on in that decade. Even the 80's can use alittle spicing up, but the 70's sound lame.
But the 90's has been sounding good lately, and the 60's has been always into their decade.

May I ask how you are listening through Winamp? I am an XM on-line subscriber and would love to do that.

Yes, and I hate that. They could do so much with this channel. I did notice that they finally upped the tempo and started playing some new songs the first of the year. I was about ready to suggest they call it " The Mellow Channel" or something...
