I'm no board expert, but my observation over the last couple of years is that most of the problems people here have with WROC are related directly to their handling of personnel, not the product produced. But don't you agree that it’s the personnel that makes a TV or radio station what it is? I mean if you have a constant turnaround of staff, doesn't that impact the overall product? WROC has been on the cusped of actually accomplishing the task of ridding itself of the cloak of being a basement-dweller numerous times over the years. But then, just as the station appears to be heading in the right direction, someone in management decides to make changes just for the sake of making changes. What happens? The people who helped bring WROC to the pinnacle of reaching its goal either are fired, or leave in utter frustration.Case in point. Not that Maureen McGuire is a bad anchor. On the contrary she is very good. But 8 also had a good anchors like Linda Allen, Jacquie Walker, Jerry Fiore, Bob Kirk, just to name a few. And what happened to those people I mentioned? Either they left on their own over failure to reach a new contract, or were just fired. If you were to read the names of people with talent that left 8 out of sheer frustration, or were fired, it would sound like a graduation class getting their diplomas. Meanwhile compared the turnover at the other two TV stations in town and you would see a marked difference.
