Channel 8 "downsizes" some staff

A business associate of mine informed me that WROC TV recently let some employees go .Has anyone else heard this and if its true what's going on? Don't tell me Nexstar is trying to save more more money by getting rid of people?

I haven't heard about any new changes, but I was told recently that they are more short staffed then ever before. Apparently it is beginning to show on air too from what I have been told.

I am sure a few WROC apologists will soon post that things are great there, but all signs point otherwise.

8 is going from bad to worse.

A co-worker's daughter was recently let go after being employed at Channel 8 for a period of time in master control.

Someone that I know at Channel 8 also told me a while ago that they plan to retire soon because, and I quote, "they are sick of what's going on."

Just wanted to clear one thing up! Your friend's daughter was FIRED due to massive incompetence, which resulted in the loss of substantial revenue more than once. You have to be pretty clueless to screw up an automated master control system. She was replaced within a week, so I don't think her removal was in any way related to "downsizing!".

As for downsizing, I never used that word. But the quote from my friend who works at 8 is correct because that person said it during a phone conversation and believe me this person is not incompetent nor lazy and has been with the station for many years.

I have no doubt that many people at 8 aren't happy with the current situation. I just found it so amusing that the daughter in question might be considered to be anything but a train wreck I had to make an account to comment on it!
