Channel 9 Simulcasting ALCS Fox Sports en Espanol Telecasts

http://www.my9tv.com/dpp/my9_sports/mlb/yankees/My9_Yankees_Espanol

Of course, it's not the first time a game produced by a cable channel has been simulcasted on a local broadcast channel. However, this is unprecedented. It answers a question on whether a digital cable channel would try to increase its exposure by simulcasting on a broadcast channel.

We'll have to wait and see how this experiment goes. However, it is deemed successful, it could be a start of things to come. Imagine if Champions League soccer would be broadcast on Channel 9. Broadcast channels could emerge as platforms for other digital cable channels to try to increase exposure for sports properties other than the so-called Big Four of pro sports, while the Big Four are increasingly migrating to cable and satellite.

The vestige use of .2's between 5 and 9's use of each other's sub's since 9/11 and 6/12, would probably make sense to bring it to the Hispanic population. Personally, I feel OTA is on life support. With the three analogue shutdown dates and the lack of companies available for the demand initiated by the conversion and YouTube, cable, DirecTV, Dish, FiOS, etc., I have tried to pick up the New Yorkers with a portable dtv - very poor performance except from the Charthouse restaurant parking lot.
