Channel 92.3

Hearing rumbles that Channel 92.3 (excellent mix of music!) may be changing formats due to a sale. They came back after being flipped to Spanish when they were at 104.9 due to a lot of protest. Wonder what happens now?

Clear has to sell all of its San Jose stations. One, mandated by the DoJ, is a must. All three have to go due to FCC market cap rules; Clear has gotten away with not selling for a long time... this may be due to the reasoning that the economy is such that they would loose too much, or simply that the FCC is more concerned with cellular and HDTV than radio these days.

104.9 is being sold to principle broadcasting, not 92.3, all the sources are obviously wrong

So this would be in addition to the recent purchase of KLOK?

DE is CC going to sell any of the LA stations or any of the stations on Aloha trust?

DE in addition is CC still going to sell KFSO 92.9 in Visalia, if so have they found a buyer?

Can someone tell me the point of giving alternative a chance to live on a stronger signal, if CC knew they had to give up the station???

AWWWWW...Channel 923 already off the air?! SERIOUSLY? Just WOW.

Not yet... they sold the La Preciosa station on 104.9.

But the other San Jose stations have to go.

I KNOW!!!! They have Passion Pit in their playlist!!! A CC station allowing Passion Pit to be played!!!

104.9 reportedly sold for 2 million, I am told...for a Class-A signal and
coverage like KCNL's, THAT'S a bargain price...

I have a feeling Ed Stolz might be interested in 92.3...will he want to expand his empire in the Bay Area along with his recent purchase of 92.7 in SF?

104.9 is the old KBRG-Fremont. It has the worst coverage of any South Bay FM. 2 million today is what would be considered a fair price, maybe a little on the low side but of course CC had the DoJ and the FCC requiring the sale of that oen; the other CC San Jose stations are just under an FCC mandate to be sold to comply with market caps.

Speaking Of the 104.9 signal. Is the 104.9 better at their Old lOcatiOn in FremOnt Or their current lOcatiOn in East Of San JOse near Alum ROck?

Uh oh...I hope not, but this seems very logical as KREV 92.7 by itself isn't going to do anything...but if he gets a good south bay frequency, especially one that close, it could work. :-\

If this ends up being the case, then my two favorite stations will have been blown up to simulcast The Revolution... ::)

Without question, the old site had far better coverage of a larger population base. It had line-of-sight to a huge portion of the Bay Area, and the average terrain went up to a lesser-populated area, and down to a well-populated area. The new site is shadowed to a good portion of the East Bay by Monument Peak. The whole reason for the move in the 1st place was to limit the coverage of the 104.9 signal toward San Francisco so that it wouldn't overlap with other CC-owned properties. The previous owner (Chase, I think it was - I can't remember) was wanting to sell the facility to Clear Channel. In order to do so they had to move it South, out of the coverage area of at least one of CC's San Francisco stations.

The old tower in Fremont was destroyed when a truck hit one of the guy wires & it was never rebuilt. Even so, I suspect it could never be moved back North again, probably due to short-spacing issues with 104.5 and 105.3 in San Francisco.

I remember he used to be the owner of KWOD in Sacramento, maybe he'll give Channel 92.3 a shot? I was listening this afternoon and I heard The Reeling by Passion Pit lead off from commercials. Pretty good :D
