Channel 92.3

Which company is going to buy KSJO and KUFX?

Nextmedia - can't because of Bankruptcy

Univision - maxed out

Empire Broadcasting - possible

Entercom - Possible?

Culumus - can't money issues

Citadel - can't because of Bankruptcy.

Royce International Media - Maybe?

Not sure what it would take to actually get CCU to unload those two. They're doing OK in the Aloha trust and I think the most that would happen would be they'd be sold to a friendly buyer with an LMA back.

As for who might buy one, well, Entercom is having its own tight times. Royce... well, ya never know. SJ doesn't have a mainstream CHR station right now and the hot CHR zips tend to be in SJ and Contra Costa. Ol' Ed could do worse than picking up the 98.5 if it were going for a bargain.

How about Alpha Broadcasting based in Portland? The Portland based company might buy KSJO & KUFX, along with KBAY & KEZR from Nextmedia as a possibility, but expect that company will buy some more stations in large to medium ranged markets throughout the West.

Because CC is over on the number of FMs the FCC will allow them in this market, they have to sell them, and no LMA back. They have been dragging their feet for as long as possible, but eventually have to roll the stations.

What about Bonneville? They could turn 98.5 KFOX into 98-5 The Drive, modeled after 97-1 The Drive from Chicago.

I hear the DJs a bit more often now.

But in the past two or so weeks the station has gone from being a station that I could always count on to play exciting, unique alt. music, new and old, to a pretty bad generic alternative station. I used to hear a good amount of bands/artists like Gaslight Anthem, Ryan Adams, We are Scientists, Miike Snow, White Lies, Gorillaz (Stylo/DARE/etc) etc, even after they stopped being "currents" as well as deeper tracks and/or lesser known hits such as "Purple Haze" by The Cure, "Flesh for Fantasy" by Billy Idol, "Bring on the Dancing Horses" by Echo & the Bunnymen, etc. All of these are gone now and it's Kings of Leon/Sublime/Stone Temple Pilots/Muse/Crash Kings/Gorillaz (but only Feel Good Inc & Clint Eastwood)/Cage the Elephant/repeat for the umpteenth time.

AAARGH!

its a ppm world, and if you wanna survive you have to be ppm friendly.. rarities b sides, basically the really good stuff that you arent sick of? kiss it good bye... welcome chili peppers, beastie boys , linkin park etc...

CC caught onto Channel's decent programming and decided to "fix" the station.

Meh, the 8 @ 8 is gone now too.

This station sucks now. They're basically Live 105 with 3 or 4 different currents. The only thing that makes me think that perhaps they could be good again, is that something like this happened a few months back...and then it improved a few weeks after that.

Wow, that's a shame. And I remember someone mentioning on the alt board that they were "surprised that CC let Channel 92.3 in SF/SJ with sounding like that". They sounded great too a couple months ago. Corporate radio really does suck ass. I just looked at the playlist and saw Papa Roach, Candlebox, and other shit stain butt rock artists. I remember a month ago oohing and aahing at the choices which included Love and Rockets "All In My Mind" (!!!). Looks like I'll have to look elsewhere now. I guess there's no such thing as non-cookie cutter radio in 2010, eh? :(

Uh, somebody already tried "The Drive" here, remember? It lasted a year and a half and then became The Bear... which became MAX... which became the Wolf.
