Channel 945 DROPS ALL JOCKS BESIDES 2

According to channel945.com, they've dropped Elesha, E, Ike B, and everyone else. They only have Dave And Jimmy and Drake. They also have added more CHR to the playlist. They actually may sound pretty good now. I doubt they dropped EVERYONE though, they may just be re-doing the site. You guys tell me.

www.channel945.com only had Dave and Jimmy listed as staff now. This morning it still had drake on there too. Am I wrong to say i think i have heard drake on the air all day? A syndicated morning show and then one jock for middays and afternoons. And all the imaging has been reduced to some girl off the street saying the frequency. Is this a bad stunt?

i've been listeneing to them online off and on.. they do sound rather strange and A LOT less rythmic..

Yeah. Drake's been on the air most of the time teasing and telling callers what's going on. They have a new morning show, a new text message line, and they are more "music friendly". Plus they have a message board online. They go on air as 94.5 too.. they don't say Channel 9-4-5 except during the morning show and occasionally on air.

I like all of the music they are playing. But Drake is on alot it seems like. The concept though, is awesome.

I agree. Dave And Jimmy, E (Traffic & Weather), Drake, and maybe Gina because of the Integritos or whatever commercials are the only remaining jocks. After Dave And Jimmy Drake is on 24/7.

Not only this, but now they aren't playing songs 125+ times a week like they used to, I think the most played song gets, at most, 100 spins. Sounding like a lot better of a station. Strange sudden change though...

The sudden change was because of the Morning Mess. When Clayton left, mornings started to fall apart. They had no choice but to pick up Dave And Jimmy and Dave And Jimmy on a rhythmic station wouldn't sound right. They gave Dave And Jimmy an excuse to change the whole station around even though if you look at the ratings for this book.. 945 got.. well.. look for yourself. Hehe.

To answer your question. I think its both good and bad.

They are not done making changes yet, as the HD2 station will be going under some changes as well.

I personally hate dave and jimmy. They are boring and talk too much. Thats why Russ Parr is a alternative :).

As for the new imaging.. I agree. I REALLY wish they didn't drop Joe. He was actually pretty good, but I personally like Dave and his Wife (original Channel 945 voices, and kiss voices), and Dr. Dave (HD2 voice).

I don't care for how unorganized the station is, but if they'd slow down the music to normal speed, it would actually sound like a CD in High Definition. (yes, I have a HD radio). But I do love how music is played back to back.

They hopefully will add more songs into the Que., but if you notice most of everything you hear has been said before (drake records everything. Its rarely live). Once the changes get into effect, I think 945 will really do a lot better.

They just need to wipe all the old played out music off and start off with my list of new CHR/ Rhythmic music and they'd be set up for success. (Not trying to sound conceded, but I do think they need to start all new with the music)

And for the last time.. BRING JOE BACK! (imaging guy)

I personally haven't noticed *much* of a difference with the new 6kW EsP, but I really wish they would get a stronger tower. I think 945 has gone downhill since the begging of 06 when they added Tyler and lost Wes McCain (which was last fall if I recall)

Have a good night everyone!

They're not done making changes yet? How much longer do they expect listeners to wait for the station to become good? The image is already in place in listeners minds. So making little changes from now on will be irrelevant.

According to Ryan, no.

945 should have been more organized before they did this, making sure they knew what the heck is going down instead of working on it 2 weeks after the fact.

Drake is good, but I dont think I would hire him as PD at my station if I ran one, simply because he says one thing, and does another. (He also sucks at replying to E-mails. It is better to post it on the board or message him on myspace, just to let you know)

For example, look on the 945 message board. I Gave him a list of some pretty sweet songs that would break their streak of playing the same old crap and not have to hear the same songs every 90 mins. He said he'd "hit them up" and add some of them to the Que. NONE have been added, and one song played ONE TIME!

Its really great they play 15-16 songs a hour, but when songs repeat or its recorded from before, it sucks.

Drake is suppost to only talk 2 times a hour. (from what I have listened thats pretty accurate remembering that most of it is pre-recorded).

Unless they go 97% commercial free, i think they will be history. I have been a 945 fan since the evolution.. Heck I dont even listen to any other stations unless I'm outside of their puney 3.6kW tower's limit (you can say its 6kW if you want, but I didn't see a signal improvement, although the HD signal is come and go at Kings Island) or if nothing good is on HD1 or HD2..

I hate to see 945 go, but they really need to step up to the plate and stop being selfish and play what listeners request!

I send numerous texts to them a day and NOT ONE OF THEN gets played. Call in, request a song.. Like Peanut butter & jelly by Cadalac Don for example.

E Makes a stupid joke about Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches, and does not play it. How lame!

If someone takes time out to call you and ask you to play something, you play the darn song!

I think they should do away with Dave and Jimmy and just do traffic and weather in the mornings and play what we all want, MUSIC! (in my honest opinion, everyone thinks differently though!)

Happy mothers day to any mothers on the board!

You guys make it sound so simple. It's not.

Drake is the only full time person on that station and he is vting 7 days a weekeng for almost 20 hours a day, plus programming the music for the station, dealing with a regional manager's demands (yeah there still isn't a GM in Dayton) plus 2 OM's, sales managers, and sales people. oh yeah, AND deal with promotions (for which there is no budget) as Quinn is not longer the promotions director.

It's not like the guy has ALL the resources in the world along with all the time. Hence why he doesn't respond to emails and to the message board. Everything is consolidated on one site, and he can answer FAQ in one solid post. He, in fact, has NO time. I would be a little worn out if I were him.

So instead of getting being disappointed in his lack of a response, be disappointed in his lack of resources and assistance. Welcome to the new world of radio. Don't be surprised if all the stations go to automatic juke boxes at some point in time, like MIX in Cinci.

Clear Channel needs to cut some corners and a lot of spending in their bid to go private, which is probably just another segueway before they sell off their entire radio division to someone else, the easiest way to do that is to cut their air staff, and double to triple the duties of one to two people on each staff. In Channel's case it's one person Drake, and a producer for the morning show, E, who's lack of experience enable him assist minimally.

I texted a few times and all of the songs got played. I always remember that it's a business first, and when they can get around to it, they will. I don't text 94.5 thinking that as soon as I request it, they will play it. I challenge anyone to find a station that does that!!! God knows Z-93 never plays anyones requests.

Just an opinion here:

Perhaps they do allow for some requests (I have known that to happen at some radio stations.)

But, depending on what song you "texxed" for, it could very easily have been a song coming up next. 94.5 spins their hot songs almost 100 times a week. Most CHR stations play fewer than 200 songs total.
