Channel 95.7 KROK Leesville,LA

Whats the story with these guys. Im jealous, why is there such a good progressive sounding AAA station in the middle of nowhere???

Yes, one of a kind in this state.

Local and family owned.

In the past (and maybe still do) they used a consultant (one-man shop) out of Houston who does their music. Met the guy at NAB once, forgot his name, have his card around here somewhere...

this station and the college station at Southeastern in Hammond are the only two AAAs in the state. On the previous website, they did talk about why they went with a different route on rock in Leesville but as someone pointed out, the Base has a big influence considering the other stations in town , 2 are country and one is urban on FM

Been checking the website overtime and surprised they finally started streaming 128kb mp3 quality audio

Plugged it into my iPhone and plays fine, bad hum though :( They're probably using a consumer grade unbalanced sound device with a ground loop.

Didn't listen to the audio too hard with a connection that good, but you are talking about during the announcer parts... I'm asking as I find many of the smaller stations have that hum only when mic is live due to the some feedback issue

Also found it's 128kb Mpeg that can have up to 50 listeners by hitting the link I posted

Got it setup to play on winamp personally however (since shoutatme is shoutcast aka winamp aka AOL)

That station was initially a satellite Top 40 at 92.1 MHz signed on with the help of Renee Revett.

In 1990, some guys who were at KZMZ("Maddawg", Linc Allen, Jack Pressley) flipped it to a fairly current AOR.

I forget the exact year they flipped to AAA. I know that format flip had taken place before 1997, as I remember "Electrolite" from REM being in their rotation about that time. The change in frequency to 95.7 occured sometime after that.

The move to 95.7 was a result of 92.1's move into Lake Charles. It happened within the past few years.

They really do sound great, i think i like their take on AAA a slight bit better than 92 zew out of Mobile. Zew plays classic rock that dosent fit the AAA format.
