Channel 955 vs AMP

Is it me? Or does anyone think Channel 955 is being held back because the station is too cluttered? Seems like there is just a lot going on, almost confusing sometimes. Mojo is great in my opinion, but I feel like the rest of the station is a little cluttered. I think it's a great radio station, just a little strange to see a Top 40 that's not top five 6+.

Here's where I contradict myself... AMP is clear of some of that clutter, but doesn't do as well as Channel. Maybe it's just the weird market. Does anyone know of a time when a Top 40 was #1 in Detroit (in recent History?)

Yeah they do. In the summer of 2009 Channel 955 sounded good! 98.7 amp radio lately is sounding a little to rhythmic these day's. 987 need's to go back to mainstream hit's or play sum of 106.7 the beat's old music. Plus with Hot 107.5 now here (witch Im very happy with) :) 98.7 can go back to mainstream hit's!

It was actually the Spring 2008 book where Channel 9-5-5 hit #1 Overall 12+

And to the guy who said: "98.7 amp radio lately is sounding a little to rhythmic these day's. 987 need's to go back to mainstream hit's or play sum of 106.7 the beat's old music."

The Beat was a Rhythmic station, especially their old music.
Now you say "98.7 is sounding too rhythmic these days, they need to play 106.7's old music".
So according to you, they are TOO rhythmic and to fix that they should play more rhythmic?

In my opinion, 955 sounds great right now. They sound just as good as they were back right before AMP came on air. They are playing more mainstream rap music and have leaned away from being rhythmic.

I know this probably won't happen but I'd like to see Amp fail. I have never really like their station at all. 955 sounded best 2006-2008 before AMP came on the air. Hopefully 955 will surge above 4 in ppm ratings for a few months and amp will stay in the 2's. The station is opt to go off the air if they stay that low for that long.

Z100 in New York has been in the upper 4's and low 5s for sometime know while 923 Now has been in the lower 3s, upper 2s... 923 Now just seems to be failing, I am surprised they aren't off the air yet.

Your entire post is just ridiculous:
- You're determining success/failure of stations based on overall 6+ numbers. NO ONE in the radio business cares about 6+ numbers.
- AMP has held it's own very well for being the newer top 40, for being a station that to build audience from the ground up (unlikely smooth jazz listeners hung around) and for being a station up against a Detroit favorite with a very popular morning show in Mojo.
- AMP also held it's own when it became a three-CHR race there for a minute. The end result was that the three CHR's all ended up with about a 3.0 each. The three-CHR race is already back down to two and AMP is still standing. And to be very honest, there's room for TWO CHR's to succeed in the Detroit market.

- Ok you're New York statements "it seems they are failing, I'm surprised they aren't aren't off the air" are even worse and just silly. First, you compare Z100 & 92-3's numbers (again you're quoting 6+ numbers that no one cares about) and because Z's are higher, you drown 92-3 as "failing". You're missing two key factors... 92.3 isn't JUST battling long time heritage CHR Z100, they're also up against Z's long time sister heritage rhy/CHR KTU as well

- Oh s..... but wait you said 92-3 seems to be failing... right? Wrong!

November 2011 - Top 5 Cume
1) WKTU-FM 5,183,300
2) WLTW-FM 5,051,600
3) WHTZ-FM 4,537,600
4) WCBS-FM 3,587,800
5) WXRK-FM 3,249,100

To sum up: They are far from failing. 92.3 is one of the Top 5 cume stations in the #1 market in the country. The other four stations in the Top 5 have YEARS and YEARS of experience ahead of 92-3 yet they carved out their own piece of the New York listener pie.

Rjs, this the simple Radio 101 stuff. And while everyone has the right to speak their opinion on this board, you could at least have the courtesy and respect for the other board users to base your opinion on facts.

Yeah and a quote to you 98.7 is playing to much hip hop for a mainstream chr station and it's boring hearing the some song's over and over and over!!!!! We already have 955!

And another and another quote to you 98.7 does sound kind of boring these day's they need to make a change to the station or switch the format! Like Howard Dean say's WWJ-FM!
